Should I Make The Purchase?

I haven't played Gal Civ II in quite some time.  I absolutely loved the game, then purchased Sins of a Solar Empire and was completely turned off.

While that game is more visually appealing, I found the gameplay to be rather boring and bland, with too much sameness in the races ships and not as compelling exploration or gameplay as Gal Civ II.

Now this new expansion is out, but I never got Dark Avatar.  I know I can get both expansions in a bundle for $45.  Is this upgrade worth the price of a completely new game?  Will this revolutionize my gameplay experience and get me excited about playing again?

Your thoughts appreciated!   :)

Coming from Dread Lords, Twilight of the Arnor is basically a sequel to Gal Civ 2. Don't let Sins color your view of Stardock products, Stardock only published that one (it was developed by Ironclad).

I say wait until the bugs are ironed out before you buy the game. TA has some major oversights at the moment.

Aye, wait until the next patch is released before taking the jump. The people who played they beta weren't in for much of a shock w/ the bugs, but for someone coming from DL after a back taste from Sins, I'd say wait until the next bug fixes are released.

Argh, that's what I get for not taking your advice. I couldn't wait, just made the purchase through my Stardock Central account. Paid via PayPal, but that's linked to a different email address. So now when I go try and download via Stardock Central all I see is the "purchase" button available on the expansion packs.

Grumble grumble  :(

Sent an email to [email protected] so hopefully I'll get a reply soon rather than having to wait until next week.

Eh, once that's ironed out you could still go and play it...knowing there are a few things still hanging to be fixed. I think it'll be another week or so though since they are focused on getting the Political Machine 2008 out now.

At least it would be all downloaded and installed for when they do patch it...less time to wait at that point :)

Well, if you do buy I hope you have better luck than I did.
Yesterday, I purchased online the Galactic Civilizations II: Expansion Bundle instead of the Galactic Civilizations II: Ultimate Bundle Pack. I don't own the base game. My bad, but a damned easy mistake to make in my opinion.

So far, no response from stardock.sales or stardock.support- who I contacted via email. And I can't download the (useless) bundle I bought.

So, buyer beware.

Lame. I've tried contacting Stardocks offices in MI directly and both the sales department and the tech support go to voicemail. What kind of garbage is this?  :(

When? If you did so early this morning before the office opened, there'd be noone there.

Around 12:15pm EST actually (i.e. just now) and the sales, tech support AND dial zero for an operator were all going to voicemail.  :SNIFF!:

Also, here is some additional info:

Ticket ID: DAI-714250 (for my trouble ticket to sales@stardock)

My order # was 6YP25727HN062973R-0516081013

Paid through Paypal, but a different email address is attached to that than the one I use for my stardock account. I just knew I should've whipped out the debit card.

Anyway, I'm unable to download the two expansions and it would suck to wait the whole weekend. :(

That's not a bug. That's you.

Anyways, easy to fix. In SDC, there's an easy function to register TA. I did the same thing.

Just type in ur serial.

I don't see where I can do this, not to mention that I don't have a serial #. I have the email from PayPal to my email account associated with it for the money sent to Stardock.

But I never received any email from Stardock to either the email account associated with my Stardock account or the email address tied to my paypal account in regards to this order. :(

Paypal may take longer to get your serial number. But when you contact sales, they will be able to confirm a serial number for you, plus merge your accounts if need be.
