It could just be that the majority of people play Sins as a single player game. I, personally, have little interest in online play, and I'm sure I'm not the only one.

Mtn_Man all RTS/TBS games are essentially like this! With exception being the Blizzard line, but even those had more SP players than MP probably.

hi

i think nobody really believes, that the support does not work, or that the developers dont read this forum.

this part of the support is way better as in other games (like ea games)

i think a lot of people are pissed, because you realeased the game too early, which i also cant understand at all. in a serious beta test you would have realized, that there are some major problems with this game and that it is not releaseable . you should have delayed the release for about one month and fix the worst bugs, but u decided not to and i think this will cost you a lot of money.

many people stop playing online, and online playing is the only thing, which will keep sins a seller. also it gave ironclad a very bad reputation. thats why i think your hasty release wasnt worth it, not for you and not for the players.

@vast majority dont have problem: well, in a multiplayer game it only needs one to have sync problem to f... it up for everyone.

@topic: i never every saw 200 or more people online. mostly its not even 100

@developers: as someone posted above: if u dare, make a poll and ask if someone didnt crash or disconnect within the last week playing online. i think the result will not be suprising

as for me. i am lucky. i dont minidumb. sometimes i drop (i get message disconnected from ironclad and i am out, but its not my internet) but doesnt happen often. still in every second or third game someone else drops or minidumps and all the others in the game are f...ed

my 3 cents

Yeah the game was not released that early. But true they had quite a few non single player kinks to work out.

actually, I think the biggest issue is the ports needing to be manually opened, people aren't going to go through learning what ports are and how to open them just to play a game. I personally got lost somewhere along the way and am stuck playing other people's games... so multiplayer needs a major overhall, it shouldn't be a headache just to play a game.

Frankly I think the real challenge of IC is post-1.1. The key is a strong community - tournaments, ladders, vastly enhance the online experience. The online experience is currently somewhat lacking.

Maybe Ironclad/Stardock should try to find a way to encourage people who buy the expansion to consider playing online. Perhaps they could include an online multiplayer tutorial and invitations that pop up after you defeat hard AI? "For a greater challenge and meet other Sinners and make new friends, come play online."

The tutorial to multiplayer is also known as a "single player campaign".

Seriously, single player campaign is what initially sells a game and what gives folks the appetite to play it (online or not).

If there is a problem finding people to play with, want to know how to make it WORSE?

Post crap like this thread.

at least this is better then acclaim...there all about quantity over quality

also it gave ironclad a very bad reputation.

Heh... I don't think so. About the only place I see anybody saying anything bad about Stardock, IronClad, or Sins is in these forums. Outside of these forums, I've seen almost nothing but unanimous praise for the companies and the game. Wanna know what bad support is all about? Give Flagship Studios and Hellgate: London a look.

Bad support = EA look at Ultima Online, as soon as EA bought it half the players left.

Couple questions about the screenshot.
What timezone are you in, and how many games where in the join list?

All very well saying the game is dead, i logged in this morning at 11am GMT had 3 people in lobby 40+ online and got a game in 1min.

The main issue that deters anyone playing online is noone knows how to host. EVERY online game i have played i have hosted myself weather there is 2 people in the lobby or 22, noone could host..

It is not hard at all... goto portforward.com select your router and follow the instructions for port 6112.. simple.
If your clever enough to install and run the game then your clever enough to forward ports, there is no excuse for laziness.
I have never waited more than 10mins for a game and that sia fact, unfortunatly it seems your on a totaly differant timezone to us all and never find anyone online.

I started playing online last weekend - had a few games.
While I have had some issues with crashing and/or people quiting, I think it has been quite good.
Of course, I am hosting if no one else is and inviting people to come play the game with me!!!

You only need 4-10 players in the lobby to get a game going as long as you aren't being ultra picky - so I don't know what the issue is. It doesn't matter if there are 0 or 100000000000000 online - just that there are people waiting in the lobby to start a game and I have always found someone!!!! :)
