Need some serious testing help!

Well.. thing is i have a blind not going thru mod.. and reason is i quote:

"Some menus are unusable due to 1) black text on black background in menus.? 2) right margin on some menus not set so text is off the menu 3) black text against a black background in some drop down boxes.?"

But i dont have these problems! anywhere, i need some people to help me get this sorted so i wondering if anyone is willing to test this and find this problem so i can correct it and so the blind can go thru mod.

Here are some menus sry for the link (img not working right)

What version of Skin Studio and WindowBlinds are you using? Also be sure to check video drivers on your machine considering the sensitivity of many skins to those file types.

Now what I am suggesting is an error in the skin not a visual problem. I did find myself squinting at the text in a few places on that screen shot. I would suggest the use of a brighter color, font highlight, background gradient, something to bring out the text. That is just my personal thought on the matter though.

Using WB 6.0, Skinstudio 6.00 Free, Nvidia Forceware 169.21 on a 8800 GTS, Samsung Syncmaster 245B with drivers magic color OFF, sRGB colorprofile i PS.....

Im wondering if ppl dont have high contrast on their screens i know there's a prob with lcd showing black and viewangles.. can it be that??

Possible but I looked at it on 3 monitors and saw roughly the same thing. See what your testers say. If you think it is a technical issue after they try it out let me know and I will be happy to assist you.

I may be the last person on the planet with a CRT -17"@1028x764 The dark text in the shaded(darker on rh side) gets hard to see but not impossible but red doesn't stand out well and appears slightly blurred or out of focus. The submenus and explorer red text in dark boxes, my "old" eyes can hardly make out.The rest(buttons, titlebar, etc.) looks really good, imo.

Voidcore, when i pointed out yr font problems, (after I took the time to download your skin and try to help you in your vista quest) you told me to make sure my font was aliased, and that it wasnt your skin's problem....... and basically ignored what i was telling you..... if you seek help you need to listen (especially people who are more experienced in skinning than you) and learn from them.....

im not trying to be mean, point fingers or insult you....im just trying to gently tell you the facts.

dark (black) skins are not the easiest to conquer......but they can be done, ive have done a few quite sucessfully.....perhaps less black in yr menus and rebars and menu bars ect will probably help you, but you must look at your font issue...cause that is holding you back.

I had no problem reading the dark sections or even the titlebar, just the red text in the smaller menus and boxes.

Some good advice from someone who knows how to make Dark and Red work. ;) I'll take another look, though [EDIT]: The red does look crisper, don't know how it would hold up to all day use though.Still that shadow thing, but it may be me, me eyes aren't that good anymore,I need a bigger monitor, for sure.I don't skin so I don't wish to sound critical, just an observation.

haha mabye thats it im on a 24" 1920x1200 monitor :D ...the grey text that is option's is supposed to be almost non visible as it is option you cant use or select/click in the menus? designed that way, is that the problem here?.... or?

Well, this is just my opinion. I have never made a blind, tried a few times, daunting to me. But as a user, I see no problems with this blind. I like it. I use a 26" HiDef LCD TV as my monitor. It all looks good to me. I have seen a lot worse blinds over the years. As far as colors are concerned, I would think that would be a matter of preference. To me it seems very usable, everything seems to work as it should. Once again, I have seen, recently, some really ugly blinds go thruogh (my opinion, of course). This one seem pretty good to me.  ;)

I've just stared at it for 5 minutes and have to agree. I'd use it,in it's present form.It can always be recolored or lightened up to taste in WB config. Good Job. :CONGRAT:P.S. Did I mention this IBM monitor is 11 years old? X-(

I really like this blind however I do have a problem with the text color.I am on a small laptop attached to a 19inch CRT.That may be the problem...I dont see the text mouse over
on the all prog menu or on my browser.other menus seem fine I would switch the default
to red though cause the black is giving me the black on black effect without any pressed
or mouseovered links and that is very jarring.I don't think its a hardware issue as I don't
have problems with similar blinds. It is lovely but too dark for my little computer lol.I
lightened it up a little to more of a dark grey and its gorgeous and much more usable
but I don't think that's the look you're after.A larger font maybe with a subtle outline?
Hope you get it sorted out! :D

send the skin back my way if you wish...........i cant even see the screenshot pic, way too small for me to even work out what is going wrong

Monitor size ect does not effect how a skin looks unless your monitor is so old and is on the way out and wont diplay colour properly.......
gosh the difference between my two monitors is amazing of course it could be the eyes that are too old lol

mimiibelle at the all prog pop up menu there should be a red outline around the program icon on the left indicating selected programgroup/program :)

okay....just tested on xp and back to report....

first off, yes, your font is too dark on the drop down menus, black on virtually black isnt a good choice.....(my eyes were aching after 3 mins of use, from trying to read the menus, black font ect....and im only 33 and dont wear or need glasses) :NOTSURE:

you group menu item background is also black, and you have black font on that also...so i cant read the menu unless i mouse over....so that has to change also..

menubar font is also black on black.....very hard to read....

..you need to be more user friendly mate......i mean good on you for doing black and red, but she has to be user friendly, otherwise...it wont be approved, obviously the reason why it was rejected in moderation.......

........i hope this helps......
