CD Key has Cyrillic Text: How to register game?

My [edit: 'used'] game, purchased from USA, [edit:via eBay and described as foreign] is possibly the Russian version with details on the jewel case insert in Cyrillic text. The CD plays ok in English but has a registration key which also contains Cyrillian letters, apart from the numbers which look like 'normal' UK/US numbers (arabic?!). I am curious to see if there any updates available but I cannot register the game because my code is not recognised even if I paste in the Cyrillian letters. Help please :)

Unless you somehow imported the actual Russian version (unlikely), which would need to be registered with Snowball, it sounds like you bought a 'foreign edition, but plays in english' copy of the game off ebay? If that's the case, you got screwed. Such are bootlegged copies and cannot be registered since the serial they include (if any) is just uesless gibberish.

Thanks kryo you are right it was indeed 'foreign edition, but plays in english', and was from eBay. However, there is no copy protection so bootlegging would not be so hard while, if so, it goes as far as having not only foreign loading instructions and option boxes but, if the 'gibberish' language installation option is used, some of the texts in the game itself are in the same lingo! - Stardock Support also suggested it could be the Russian version.

By the way kryo, is Snowball just the registration team for Stardock, or could you provide the the address if it deals only with the Russian version?

The eBay advert did state that it was used, but it was possibly misleading to state that the game had been registered because, although registration is not required to install or play, the registration of the keycode cannot be transferred without a fee and this is needed for updates beyond 1.3 or to play on line, and of course the difficulties with entering the key itself were not mentioned either.

So I would still like to ask about entering the Cyrillic key to get v.1.3, which Stardock says can be had without transferring the registration; they haven't yet provided the answer to this so I would still be grateful for any other help with it

Snowball would provide you the key to work in the Stardock system after you submitted the key you have to them. I don't understand it fully but it is how their system works. As for the key situation a used key wouldn't work under any circumstance since the ULA says that the license cannot be transferred once sold.

However if you did purchase it used and you were able to save money you can always purchase a stand alone serial number through Stardock at a reduced price. For more details on this please contact [email protected] or [email protected].
