Something i don't get about Sci-fi channel is that they have never shown any of the Star Wars movies. How come they don't?

 PS:I hope that the upcoming Star Wars miniseries will be shown on Sci-fi.

Wrestling should be moved to Spike! I don't care for Ghost Hunters but at least that fits their theme.

I miss Andromeda, Lexx, and The Dresden Files. I'm a fan of Stargate_SG-1 but all things must come to an end.

The Saturday night movies are awful! Which prompted me to send to them the following programming suggestion.

For the most part I strongly approve the changes in programming made at the Sci-Fi channel over the past several years. You have invested in quality new programming and it has resulted in a legion of loyal viewers. I look forward each week to Friday night! However, tonight is Saturday night; the night you air such awful movies as "Ice Spiders". I fondly recall many Saturday nights watching "Prisoners of Gravity" on TVO (TVOntario).

This is what Best Novel Hugo and Nebula Award Winner, Robert J. Sawyer has to say about PoG, "Prisoners of Gravity was the most thoughtful and creative television program ever produced anywhere in the world about the literature of science fiction, and it was a substantial Canadian success story. In first-run, it was one of the most popular series on its originating network, TVOntario, lasting for five seasons and 139 installments; it also ran on several PBS stations."

PoG still airs on Canada's Sci-Fi channel, Space: The Imagination Station, and I think you should seriously consider adding it to Sci-Fi's schedule. The show was produced on the very modest budget of $23,000 per episode, so I sure it would be inexpensive for you to purchase the rights to air the show on Sci-Fi. Unlike many re-run shows that appear dated today; the themes PoG explored are timeless! You should also consider creating new episodes of PoG or a show similar to PoG.

The program was critically successful and won several awards, including the following:
1. Two Aurora Awards
2. A Broadcast Media Award from the International Reading Association
3. A Silver Medal from the New York Festivals of Television
4. Two Gemini nominations.
5. An Honorable Mention from the Columbus International Film & Video Festival

Something i don't get about Sci-fi channel is that they have never shown any of the Star Wars movies. How come they don't? PS:I hope that the upcoming Star Wars miniseries will be shown on Sci-fi.Sci-Fi is too busy pumping out crappy movies and figuring out how to squeeze more commercials into Ghost Hunters to really care about Star Wars and other sci-fi things. I can't recall a single original movie or series they've made that I like (that includes that abomination of Battlestar Galatica--it was bad decades ago and it's still bad today).Star Wars mini-series? When did this happen? Who created this? "I have a bad feeling about this..." If it's NBC or CBS it'll bomb. Hopefully Fox or ABC made it.


Actually i like BSG and another series that I'm not sure what the Sci-Fi Channel is doing with - The Dresden Files.

From what I understand, the Dresden files have been canceled -- alas, it was a good series while it lasted. (Books are better, though!)

hmmm... weird... i thought that the sci-fi originals are the weird(when i say weird i say totally weird) movies they produce... lol...


BSG(much better than the old one) is a decent show though been watching it since 1st season(too much conversation sometimes for a single show and no battle scene)... some of their mini-series are cool(not the best but still cool)...


but come to think of it... the only shows that i watch enough on sci-fi are those they didn't produce i think... DOCTOR WHO is one reason(don't hate i like to watch the Doctor) BBC... lol

If not for Sci-fi how would Stephen Baldwin earn a living? He seems to always be on some crazy sci-fi movie. However, I can't say anything bad about the Sci-Fi movies, cus honestly I have never watched a minute of any of thier movies.

I am however a huge Stargate fan. I love Sg-1 and Atlantis. I watch them everyday at 5 and 6 on Sci-fi. Also I love Battlestar Galactica. So I would have to say I am a fan of Sci-Fi channel. Only because of those shows really though. Well actually I do enjoy Eureka. I think its coming back at some point, but I'm not sure. And although it wasn't Sci-fi original, for awhile they were airing the show Dead Like Me, which I saw for the first time on Sci-Fi and I enjoyed it.

So although they're movies seem to be horrible from what I've read on here, I think they make up for it with their other programming.

Have to respectfully disagree here. I'll admit that most of the movies are curdled pig milk, but there are some good ones.

even though it's fiction the movies are just unrealistic... and acting skills are even more awful... (sorry)... lol



but the fact is there are few that are good... lol



the only problem i have is when you buy movies... movies have good names would have a better chance of being bought by browsing in-store... the irony is if the movies are even good compared to it's own price... lol

The sci-fi channel has gone seriously downhill since SG-1's demise...

Right now, when SGA is not on, they're surviving on the last season of BSG.... and after that it's Doctor Who (!!) and Ghost Hunters...

I almost never watch the sci-fi channel anymore...

for awhile they were airing the show Dead Like Me, which I saw for the first time on Sci-Fi and I enjoyed it.


Ha, Dead Like Me was a fun show, I liked it. It was so full of sarcasm and satire. Sci Fi was just re-airing it, though. If you look it up on IMDB, it's actually a pretty old show, apparently.

I wonder if this will post? last 2 attempts at a reply got a weird error and logged me out.

SciFi Channel's programming quality has been dropping for a while now. The saturday night movie has been garbage. Sometimes the sunday night movie as well.

SG-1 got cancelled due to drastically reduced viewership in season 10.

The premise of last Saturday night's movie 'Aztec Rex' was enough that I did not wnat to watch it.

It would be hard to beat Lexx as the Worst Ever SciFi series.

This is the last season of Battlestar Galactica. I figure once that it ends maybe the Sci Fi channel will have a bigger budget for their crappy saturday night movies (the scariest night on television . . . yeah because the writing is so bad).

Well Sci Fi has a BSG Prequel in the works, focused on the first Cylon war. I've also read they had another show in the works that stars Amanda Tapping (Carter from SG-1/Atlantis) that I think was supposed to be about some parallel realities or somesuch, but I don't remember too well now.
