Hello!

I'm sure it's user error but not sure what I should do to fix my issue at this time.

My issue is as follows...

Stardock water dream is running on my vista ultimate 32bit machine (which runs fine) except one thing: when changing the background image from 'sand' to anything else, deskscapes or vista does not retain the new image i have selected and always reverts back to sand upon restart/reboot.

Have I missed something glaringly obviouse?

Update again... Next DeskScapes update will include the Water Dream fix :) This update should happen soon.

a new patch is added on DeskScapes to incorperate more DirectX libraries


Ah, no need to use the old December 2006 DirectX SDK anymore :D

Well... It wasn't so much a decision... more a mistake on my part :). I started here a few months ago and downloaded the newest DirectX SDK (Nov 2007) without realizing that all the dreams used Dec 2006. But, now it's fixed :D

Please wait as I go beat up my bosses :) Soon. Or so I've been told. They're waiting for the DeskScapes patch to be perfectly good. Hopefully soon. Or else somebody is gonna get da smackdown laid on them :). Wish I had more specific days or anything more helpful but as an intern, don't get to really make these decisions, just gotta live with them.

So, I shall continue pleading, just to make sure it wasn't put on hold :)

As of right now the current version is 2.00.058 as of 5.7.2008. If you are showing that you should be up to date.

Stardock fail  X-(  Soon though. I know you guys are waiting patiently so we're trying to ensure that the next release fixes a large variety of issues.

Sorry guys... It should have been released... I know that the problem is fixed so I'll continue to harass people there. I know that things are a little busy at Stardock but that's no excuse!

There is some current reorginization going on in the QA/Support department as we introduce new products and new staff. With some of the new QA we were able to identify some of the reported probelms here. It is just a matter of getting over worked development for the update.

I know that this isn't a very good update to the problem but please know that it isn't forgotten just because it isn't at the highest rank of priority right now. Support and QA certainly won't forget on this one.

Dreamer used to work on projects like this and can tell you all about the set up when it comes to things like this (to say nothing of the scope that some of these projects work at). Perhaps he should crack at it himself. :grin:

Sorry guys, I just returned to school, so that kind of took a priority for a while... (this is the first time I've really been on the forums since I released my first dream about... 3 weeks ago? Something like that...

So, a while ago, I went online, and harassed the Stardock main base about it... There really isn't a whole lot that I can do from here... However, for those of you that have commented so far on the dream, check your PM. I have a present for you :)

O_o... bummer. I would suggest deleting your current one (should be in My Documents/Stardock/Dreams or something) then reinstalling... Sometimes they fail although they work... Its quite tramatic...

So, the updated dream solution is coming out soon...

How soon? I do not know...

But soon! For those that are just finding this thread, just wait a little bit longer... It'll be worth it!

Note: The patch will released with DeskScapes 2.5 so when you update DeskScapes it will install the fix automatically.

Will the Fix also address 1.0.2, the free version for ultimate users?

As currently I keep getting asked to upgrade when trying to use Waterdream with that version.

Reason I am using 1.0.2 is due to my sub expiring and won't be able to update the next version...

Just thought I would update you guys :)

I now have the issue resolved, I did another clean install of vista32bit installed catalyst 8.11, then installed the DX9.0c updates, then deskscapes 1.02 and now have most dreams working, including the updated water dream :D

The other dynamic dreams won't work, but thats due to not having the 2.0+ version installed ie; it asks to install a newer version to play the content. But anyhoo i'll stick with having water dream back again!
