Help on updating game

Don't know where this fits, it isn't a bug.

Hello. I just got the game yesterday and tried to update it today and I don't know what to do. When I tried after giving my email it says my registration information is invalid and it may be my email or serial number. How do I change the email part? It also asks below if I want to purchase a registration? I have to pay after buying a game just to get it updated? I'm confused and what are these tokens? Excuse me if these sound like idiotic questions becuase I'm used to Civilization 4 which does the updates clean and simple, not like this which is irritating.

Did you create a Stardock.net account and download Stardock Central:

https://www.stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp

Once you do that, you can enter the serial number into Stardock Central, register the game, and then download updates.

But you weren't clear about what you purchased (GalCiv2? Expansions?) or where you purchased it (online? In store?). We need more information to properly help (since the "it" in "it says my registration information is invalid" and "It also asks below" is beyond vague).

I purcheased Galactic Civilizations 2: Dreadlords Game of the Year edition at a Circuit City store when I was looking for something worthwhile. I did the account twice. Once I push the "Update Game" after the game disk enters my computer and the menu comes up, it takes me to "Stardock Central-News" and pop ups the "Stardock Central Updates" With the game and the Heightmaps listed below. When I press "Update Now" This appears:

You Galactic Civilization II registration is invalid. Please check your Email address and Serial Number are entered correctly within the Register Products dialog.

Would you like to purchase the registration now?

When I click no they disappear and nothing seem to happen. Where do I enter the Serial number and register the game? I thought the "Update Serial below the "Update Game" was the way to do it...?

I don't know exactly what you've done so far, but this is what you want to do:

1. Install from the CDs.

2. Go to the URL I listed above, create a Stardock Central account, then download the Stardock Central software.

3. Install Stardock Central.

4. Launch Stardock Central, log in to Stardock Central with the account you created in 2).

5. Choose Tools - Register Products, choose "My Games" on the left, then pick "Galactic Civilizations II", enter your serial number that came with the game, and press the "Register" button.

This should activate the game, and then you can go to the main area of Stardock Central and download your updates.

Glad it worked.

Sometimes the edit button isn't there. Yeah, definitely frustrating. :)
