Disable beta download by default

Even if it's carrying over from SDC

By default Impulse is downloading Alpha/Beta versions of updates. I'm not sure whether this is the default state for Impulse, or a carry over from my SDC account, but either way it should not be the default setting. In the case of SDC carry over it should be remembered that for a very long time SDC had "Download Alpha/Beta releases" on by default, a checkbox which I'm sure has been the cause of one than one support ticket to Stardock.

More sensible surely to disable this, and thus people who get alphas and betas have specifically opted-in.

Click on the Stardock orb in Impulse, top left ,and select "preferences. Then simply uncheck "show pre-release versions" and you're good to go. :D

I think you're missing the point of my post. I know how to disable it, but if you're the kind of person who doesn't then you're the kind of person for whom it shouldn't have been enabled in the first place. And unless Stardock wishes to support betas why is it on by default, especially when posts in the forums from Frogboy and other Stardock members advise people not to grab the beta unless they're willing to accept a less stable or problematic experience, but currently you're not accepting it, you're getting it by default.

Your point is not only very accurate, it is quite obvious. The only reason I can think of that SD has set it to enabled by default is that Impulse is in beta and therefore used currently only by those that wish to test betas.

I hope they change it before release.

I'm sorry I misunderstood your post. That is indeed a good point,Quitch. There are still a lot of people who don't even know about the "hidden" menu, though. My appologies if I was pointing out the obvious to you. ;)
