My Colors Updates

I just received emails regarding free updates to previous Premium Themes that I repurchased for MyColors. I also notice that other previously released Premium Themes are coming soon. Should I purchase these or wait? I have purchased every available Premium Theme and every available MyColors Themes and most of those overlap. Should I be receiving a refund? Thanks.

If you purchased Pirate or Magic as a Premium Suite and then repurchased them as a MyColors Theme, contact [email protected] so they can see if you need a refund on those.

As for other Premium Suites now marked as Coming Soon as MyColors themes, I'd just wait until they've been upgraded to MyColors and see what your options are then.

How about those of us who received Magic for free because we re-upped our ODNT subscriptions for an extended time (I believe it was past April of 08)?

Slightly different update but after I installed Diamond(already had Quest) from download.com I checked out MC and had Quest and Diamond listed. Applied both, good to go...I thought. In WB6 it left two copies of Diamond, one I already had and one labeled "unknown" which I deleted.I applied Quest and Diamond through WB config, and again I thought all was well.(thinking is obviously not my strong suite) ;p Impulse showed a premium skin update last night, ran it and Quest is now mia in the MC menu.I still have all the components, how do I get them back into My Colors?Another damn speedbump on the information superhighway!

neophil78 ,you will need to download My Colors
from here

10833711.html?tag=fd_hed to get the Diamond
theme. The one from Impulse has Quest
only. Please read my post above and any others concerning problems here https://www.wincustomize.com/articles.aspx?aid=309273#replies before you do. I believe that it's being worked on so you may want to wait.

I thought that My Colors was able to install Diamond theme by itself ...  :d It can do it for paid suites ...  :HOT:

BTW, i installed My Colors through the MyColors_Quest_Setup without trouble (it was not the case with Impulse which bring it all crapy  :( )

My opinion on My Colors ? Just another Theme Manager prog whith much less possibilities than the original ... Though, it's just useless and add another time a few new Stardock's folders over the hard drive  :(  ...
Well it's just the perfect way for Stardock to get more than 100 % of price augmentation on suites ...  :(

I had the same problem after I installed my colors thru impulse. There was no diamond theme. After I downloaded the program from download.com, the diamonds theme was there.

That's an interesting one.....please email [email protected] with as much info as you have.  I don't think we have run into that yet.

Well it's just the perfect way for Stardock to get more than 100 % of price augmentation on suites ...

OD users get themes at $9.95 for Inspired and $14.95 for IP related (due to the contracts we hold with the IP holders).  How is that getting more than 100%?  If you don't have OD, you pay $19.95 and can run the theme to try out skinning.

MyColors is not ThemeManager, but it there will eventually be a version that replaces ThemeManager.  It's a much more simplified way to deliver the themes, and it also gives us a way to deliver updates when available.

Ugh, now I'm a little confused, thought I had a handle on this.

Will there be some sort of a theme manager, regardless of what it's called, which will be maintained and allow me to apply the Object Desktop Premium Themes that I've bought?

Do the Object Desktop versions of the Premium Themes get updated, and can I get those updated versions of OD Themes I've purchased, or do only the MyColors themes get updated?

I was thinking that the only real reason I'd want to bother with MyColors was if themes started showing up there exclusively that I want, now I'm wondering about future use and updates.

Hope that makes sense, like I said, a little confused here.

Premium Suites will migrate to MyColors.

ThemeManager (as an app to make your own themes or suites) exists but may get upgraded.

Thanks, KarmaGirl. I'll gather what I can and submit it over the weekend. No big thing, since the TM seems to be working better(thank you very much) and as I said I have all the "parts" for two MC Themes I just have some assembly required.Maybe one of them should have been a 'suite manager', less confusion. ;)  Have a great weekend.

Thanks Philly, ya I think that covers it pretty much exactly (almost to the point of being creepy   )

Fair enough. Guess I'll go load up MyColors.

Thanks.

I discovered the problem,My bad. This should only affect very new ODNT Ultimate subscribers. My Colors through Impulse comes with Quest.MC through c|net,Diamond. I ended up with two Diamond WB's see post #4 above for details. The premium suite I dl'd through Impulse gave me another Quest theme...In Theme manager. One is simply "Quest" and the other "Quest by Stardock Design".Some dumbass deleted the wrong one.UAC FAIL   X-(   Quest by Stardock Design must not be the one associated with My Colors. See- it's not as idiot proof as you claim, give us nOObs a little credit. ;p

OK, I posted a few hours too soon. When I got home, I had an email with the link and serial for MyColors and Magic suite. I downloaded it today, launched it, and have apparently the exact same issue I have with Impulse - I enter the registration data, only to (eventually) get an error message "There was an error validating your registration information, please try again." Does this mean that MyColors, like Impulse (and UNlike Stardock Central), has issues with proxy servers which require login information?

I must say as a longtime Stardock customer that I am extremely unhappy with the direction the products are taking: Worse end-user customer experience; Dumbed-down UI (prettier, but harder to find anything); Not working when clearly connected to the internet but behind a proxy server.

Opus, not sure why that is happening.  Let me get support in here and have them work with you,

Speaking of MyColors updates, has anyone checked the Montreal Canadiens hockey skin, it's quite excellent!!! I would have liked it better if the canadiens logo was used as the start button by itself as it would have been bigger (instead of being squished on to the blue globe start button as it is) or if it was maybe placed on a hockey puck which would have served as the start button, that would have been the icing on the cake but other than that, a decent skin, nice job on this to whoever is responsible for creating this hockey themed skins.  :CONGRAT:

Wizard1956: That's not exactly your fault. I will pass this along to the developers to help be sure no one else encounters the same kind of problems you had. Sorry for all the frustration, but glad to hear things are working better at this point!  :CONGRAT:

OpusCroakus: My apologies for the troubles you've encountered thus far. I am attempting to get in touch with the developers about this for a definite answer. I assume you already have your proxy information entered through Internet Explorer? When I hear something further about this, I will post it here.

OpusCroakus: I've spoken with the developers about connecting through a proxy using MyColors ThemeManager. If you set up proxy information (even including user/pass) through SDC or just simply an IP address/Port through IE, the MyColors ThemeManager will pick it up.

If this is still giving you a problem (despite having added your proxy information), please let us know.

Hmmm... well, I have SDC set to just use the I.E. proxy settings, and it works *flawlessly*. I'd really prefer NOT to muck around with something that already is working perfectly, to try and get something else to work! Especially since our I.E. settings use an autoconfig file (.pac file), I don't even know what the server+port are - Windows, I.E., SDC, and every other well-behaved application simply work. Please convince the Stardock devs to stop trying to fix things that aren't broken!!!!
