User created maps

When I put a copy of a user created (both my own and others') map in the "Galaxies" folder described in the instructions, and try to load it, something goes screwy. The map appears in the pregame menu, I set up a SP match, and it loads...but it doesn't load. When the "loading" bar is complete, a "mission failed" message pops up, and when I select "keep playing" there's nothing visible. Nothing. I zoom in and out, change my viewing angle, rotate around, and there's nothing but empty space. Please help.

At least your map can be loaded. My created maps are apparently invisible - I can never see them in Sins. Its kind of retarded.

Make sure you remember to make settings for how many players the map should have (its in the settings bar) - that may be the problem. I don't know.

@MachinaManiac:

Be sure to put your custom map in the Sins install path Galaxy folder. GF made maps should not go into your user path.

@k64a:

Grab the latest version of the GF editor from the downloads section. To make your current maps show up in-game, open them up in notepad and make sure versionNumber is set to 1.

As far as maps go i have 1 comment 1 question the comment being yes i know to put the created maps into the galaxy folder. and now the question, why is there an option for custom maps but nowhere to put the custom maps so they show up in custom maps? or did i just miss something?

This is for the in-game map generator. Those maps go into the Custom category. Don't ask me why the distinction between Galaxy Forge maps and In-game maps, likely some engine technicality since the in-game maps are still randomly generated.

If you're getting instant defeat when you start up your maps you're probably putting them in the wrong folder.  You need to put them in the Galaxy folder which is under Program Files/Stardock/TotalGaming/Sins
