Disconnected from Ironclad Online

How does this work ?

Ok, I just installed SinS and updated 1.0.4.

I click "Ironclad Online", I try to create and account.

Click accept. then I get "Network Error: Disconnected from Ironclad Online".

So, what am I doing wrong. I have shut down all anti-virus and all firewall on the windows machine all that is left is my wrt54g router.

My wrt54g has no gaming mode. But I can port forward. But since thats just for hosting.

So, what can I try ?

Thanks,

TN

Try it.

It may not help, but it wont hurt either (except wasting your time if it doesn't work ;) ).

Follow the steps in my guide "Networking and SINS" (linked in my stickied thread, in the OP under the GREEN writing). Since SINS is P2P my guide isn't only useful for those wishing to "host" but with the current netcode (we don't have 1.1 yet) it most definately helps connection issues with all clients.

In my lab-testing I have concluded that if everyone (host and clients) has their network configured according to my guide (most clients don't have to in order to simply connect to games) everyone in the game will have a better experience. Latency-spikes, player-drops etc. seem to to happen far less when everyone in a game has their networks configured properly. :)

Does this include the initial connection to ICO? I understand that the port settings etc are important for hosting, joining, playing but there are still a few of us who havent even got the stage of seeing the innerworkings of ICO because we get the disconnected message at the account creation and the login requests and cant seem to fix it. You put in your details, get ~40sec wait and then the disconnected from ironclad online message. Does the ICO front-end also need port and firewall settings to be tweaked even to get on and chat with other community members? This is really frustrating....

btw this is a fresh 1.04 install... is there anything missing from previous builds which might help solve this problem?

Yes quite obviously. :) Network traffic is network traffic, doesn't matter when it occurs. Something on your end is blocking/filtering SINS network traffic.

If you won't/can't follow the steps in my guide you'll have to wait for the "tunneling" netcode of patch 1.1 (which I hope will remain optional as personally I'm not a fan of anything "tunneling" past/through my controls).

Ok, i follow The Monks guide to the letter.. Still can not create an account on ironclad.

I go to create my account, I enter Name, Password, then confirm password and then the CD Key.

I hit "Accept"

and then I get "Network Error", and "Disconnected from Ironclad Online"

My isp passes p2p traffic just fine, I use bit torrent and it works just fine.

I have the firewall, anti-virus and anti-spyware all turned off, I setup my router with port forwarding as in the guide.

No Joy.

So, I guess no multi-player for me.

I really like this game, but if I can't play online I think I want a refund.

I understand that software has its problems, but this is kinda crazy.

Any advice would be great.

Thanks,
TN

TN,

The next step, although annoying, is to take the router out of the equation. Try with nothing between you and the wall except your DSL/cable modem.

If you still have the problem, (and you continue to have all software firewall software turned off), then it's either:

a. something your modem is doing
b. something your ISP is doing

Because simply connecting to Ironclad Online should be relatively easy. It's hosting a game that gives 99% of the trouble (there are beyond few that can't join a game, and even less that can't even get on ICO).

I'm having the same problem now also. The kicker here is that I have
used ICO before(over 20 times). I recently bought a new SATA drive for performance reasons and reinstalled everything and now I'm getting the "Disconnet" pop up too when trying to setup a new account.

Could it be a bug from not trying to run everything including account creation on first run with ICO before patching to 1.04? Gonna try it.

Also, whats the response if I enter the serial wrong? Just asking because
the number zero and letter o is hard to distinguish.

No, you should be able to patch up to 1.04, then, assuming you successfully created an account in the past (which it sounds like you did), login to ICO fine. You don't have to "set up" a new account. Just log in with your existing ICO name and pw and it'll let you in.

Well, this really sucks.

But I think I have the answer.

I lost my hard drive and had to re-install. Yes, i had a backup.

But still installing windows from scratch sucks as does windows.

Anyway, I did my install this time with XP 32 bit. Not the 64 bit that I had been running before.

Everything works now, including ICO.

So, I guess 64 is broken, which is bad since it ran real well.

My gaming pc's run WinXP Pro x64. I have nothing but games (including SINS) installed on those systems. Not a single piece of other software and both of them work fine for every game (incl. SINS).

I've Disabled All my firewalls.... Made a exception for Ironcladgames.com..... Disabled my installed firewalls and virus protection ( spyware doctor) and no luck...

Help would be greatly appreciated
