Oh my god, patch 1.03 is officially horrible in Sins of a Solar Empire

It's official. I formerly adopt ed "Wait and see" policy, but I've waited and seen and Sins 1.03 is officially offically, really, really horrible. Don't get it. Under all speed should Ironclad develop an emergency past POSTHASTE. I hate the patch so much I've uninstalled the game in protest until the ISSUE IS RESOLVED.

1-
LRMs despite a cost nerf, are still PRIMO NUMBER 1. In fact because of the fact of the new economy, they are a much greater threat than they were before, having more 'bang for the buck' in respective gameplay.

OMFG
TEC is horribly unbalanced. The tradeport build strategy is ridiculfuculus, allowing TEC to economically max out multiple planets while teching up to greater military and outputting from multiple frigate ports. See the post "1.03 Sim City in Space" for more.

Normally I'm very calm about this. I used to deny it and think this game had a modicum of balance, but in the past few games I've played all the crap I've read has turned out to be horribly true.
FIX THE FORUMS AND FIX THE GAME.

In addition to unbalancing the game, the patch seems to have inflicted an emotional imbalance in at least one user.

I like the patch myself, sure there's a bit of imbalance but I like the tougher AI settings and the faster game options. The black market is still better than before, it fixes the exploits at least - they just need to jack up the price of metal and crystal a bit more and it will be fine.

Incidentally kids, this is why MP takes up a huge amount of the development time in any game into which it's introduced. SP players don't care about minor imbalances, MP player consider them the end of the game, the world, and the universe.

In other words, the AI's aren't good enough to exploit said imbalances.

I've said for years that GC2 would not work MP for this reason, and only this reason.

I like the patch. The AI is less stupid in it.

Welll.. yeah pretty much, honestly.
But thing is most of us thought 1.02 was one of the most balanced "early game versions" there ever was. And 1.03 introduced a lot of imbalance through i guess just horible oversights by QA and devs(despite everyone of RaY, GE, and other clans noticing after just one game that TEC has been massively massively buffed by the new black market prices when presumably QA had more than a game of testing..)

I just don't hope we don't have to wait until 1.04 to have this all fixed.

To the OP:

Get a grip on reality dude you sound like you're slamming your keyboard really hard, red in the face, throwing things around the room.

I just got done playing a massive 5 hour game with 7 other people. If there are "horrible" imbalances, we certainly didn't notice.

Each new version will have updates and tweaks that are bound to annoy someone.  All the development team can do is listen to what people say and weigh the validity of their arguments and try to put it in the next update.

I can tell you that melodramatic posts don't help the cause at all though.

Good to see that the dev aren't influenced by these dramatic posts. I seems that SOASE is a very good game and will only get better. Nonetheless, I hope that the time dev now put into the patches of SOASE doens't influence the improvement of the new Galciv2 expansion.

There is no such thing as balance. Almost all multiplayer games out there are not as much fun because of whiners demanding balance in everything.

Sins of a Solar Empire is the 1st game in a long time since old Everquest base was out that I actually could play longer than a couple days.

Draginol: Melodramatic posts are the result of users being very frustrated. While you should not really listen to them too much I hope you realize that this frustration usually has a source ;) And this source is the 1.03 patch.
When all major gaming clans agree that the patch is a very bad idea and screws up game balance then it is quite safe to assume that they are right. After all, those people play the game the most and usually know what they are talking about. Their voice should be heard when making game balance changes. They know a LOT more about the game balance then some random people you just had your 5 hour game with (that probably only lasted 5 hours because most of the participants didn't know about the balance problems).

And as some guy said a few posts before: In multiplayer, even tiny balance issues have a HUGE impact on gameplay. A tiny advantage means that players of about equal skill will always use that tiny advantage to turn the game, resulting in a totally ruined game.

They're also a tiny, insignificant fraction of the total number of people who buy and play the game. Just because they're prolific forum posters, it doesn't mean they should control the development of the game. Their priorities aren't necessarily the priorities of the majority of the people who buy the game.

Never mind the fact that that 5-hour, 7-player game was probably with Stardock or Ironclad employees, who either helped design the game or test it for months. ;)

My only problem with 1.03 is that the AI still plays like a lobotomized hamster, and the diplo system is still an unplayable mess.

I am not so sure about this...

I have a friend who cannot beat a single easy AI. He can walk and talk at the same time too, so perhaps a step up from the lobotomized hamster intelligence.  :)

If starcraft took 15 patches to balance the AI and the game itself, i think we should not expect Sins to be balanced any faster. So give it time, this is only the 3rd patch.
