Also .... Stupid question about the main gallery

So, I submitted my very first wallpaper to the main gallery.  I got an email that it had been accepted, but noticed that it never went into the main gallery, it's just in my personal gallery.

I would assume that that would mean it was rejected for the main gallery.  Or do they send you an accepted email when your wallpaper is rejected??  I'm completely confused at this point.

I'd like to be a little clearer on the concept before I create and submit a bunch of stuff that no one but me will ever see.  Even though I am not exactly DaVinci, it's more fun to share the work and have it critiqued than it is to be creator and audience all rolled into one.

("Fabulous work, Ricky"  ... "Why thank you, Ricky")

Yes, it was sent to your personal pages by a mod.
No, there is no notification that it went there.
Yes, that would be a great thing. One that has been requested (I think).
Have you checked out the Personal Page Elite? Some of the best skinners are members. :)

Keep at it.  Your icon work show you have the ability.

Youll get an upload notification even if it goes just to your personal page. But just take that as criticism also and work to make your next one better. Its all a matter of personal opinion.

Also check out this link WWW Link ;)

Yes, I figured I had earned my first PPE award. But, I found it very (very) odd that I would get an "accepted" email when the piece hadn't been accepted.

I guess this just goes on par with the form that says upload as a BMP when you are never supposed to upload BMPs. One of those things you learn as you muddle along.

I'll keep at it, although I'll more or less the accepted emails from now on. I'll post the wallpapers to my gallery at Renderosity for the critical commentary and here just to do it. Although, if enough time goes by and no one looks at it or downloads it, is it considered polite to delete it? There has to be a limit on the amount of server space the also-ran stuff can take up.

But it was accepted.  Accepted to the site.  If it had not been accepted it would have been rejected out-right and removed from the site entirely.

Yes, a notification for personal-page items would be nice.  It's on the list for the next revision of the admin tools.  No ETA on that.

Artists create to share and may attract certain users.

Po' Smedly probably has as many submissions moved to his personal gallery as go into the main. But I like his work so every once in a while I'll pop over to check out what's bee "rejected".  Sometimes I'll really dig what another moderator or two thought was not worth monkeys dung thrown at the zoo.

Keep it, delete it, update it.  It's your space.  Have fun.

I often wonder why more users don't "market" their space here more.  If i was interesting in critical feedback it'd be part of a sig.

Another way to promote your wall is to post a SS of your desktop in This Gallery. Plenty of people are going to ask "hey, where did you get that cool wallpaper"

Oh, I get tons and tons of critical commentary at Renderosity, but that's because everything shows up in the main gallery so most everyone sees it ... and can offer ways to make it better, or diss it as complete crap, or blow smoke up the artist's hiney.

I'll probably leave the rejected stuff up for a few days and then trash it. I like to keep my personal spaces trimmed. I go through my Renderosity gallery from time to time and clean out the dreck from there as well.

And I will certainly go over and claim my PPE award. Do I win a prize if all of my submitted wallpapers end up as PPE?? Like do I get a title .... "Grand Master of the PPE" or something??

Yes, I've requested it be added to the email a couple times.
