Custom race style

Houston, we have a problem...

In my current games I have created a new ship style for my custom race. Unfortunately, it's only working when the race is selected as an opponent, and when I play it the ships appear to be Iconian (which blank hulls I have used as the base to build the new templates). What should I do to make them work properly?

I think the custom styles only work for the ai because you can go into your templates and use that styles ships from there.
