Going Wide And Ugly - Now With Pics

Monday morning I'll be heading to an auction yard about 2 hours from here to pick up a wide load. It's a large John Deere farm tractor. The guy was wanting me to come and pick it up today but that simply wouldn't have worked.

Being a wide load I would have to get oversized permits before I could actually roll with the thing and the states' permit offices aren't open on the weekends much like any other state office. No way I was going to go down there and load the thing today and then have to sit there with it until Monday. That would just be stupid. I told the guy I would be there Monday morning to load the thing and that was that.

I'm currently just sitting around listening to it rain and knitting a very ugly tie. I picked out some multi-colored yarn that I thought would produce the most hideous tie possible and am knitting it up. I hadn't knit a tie before so it's something a little different, and the ugliness is just for shits and giggles. I have several inches of it done and just as I had hoped it promises to be truly hideous.

I wasn't sure how best to knit the thing up. At first I tried a straight garter stitch but didn't like the way it was looking so I frogged it and tried stockinette. That looked better but, as stockinette has a tendency to do, the bottom edge was rolling up pretty badly. I frogged it again and tried a seed stitch. Didn't like it. Frogged. I then tried a 1x1 rib.  I like it.

Ah well, the things we do to amuse ourselves.

If you get the chance, take a pic of the tie and post it. I wanna see just how ugly, ugly is. It cannot be any worse than what my father wore in the 70's. Yikes!
