its the only thing truly missing to this game

That does suck, I'd love to see my stats ranking. I'd also love to be able to change maps in the multi lobby without having to start a new game. Such is life.

Auto matchmaking would be nice too, but I guess it's pointless with such a small playerbase.

Hell no.

1) there are too many ways to keep a game going a long time. It would be easy in Sins to just keep a game going forever just to piss off the player, especially on larger maps.

2) The games are long. Really long. This often leads to people having to leave.

3) A leaderboard would encourage statwhoring, and people caring -way- too much about their stats.

that's true actually, I had the unfortunate experience of playing against someone today who didn't leave and I had to spend 30 mins destroying his planets even though he had no hope of winning, only to get minidumped right before killing the last planet.

Hide the farm was bad enough in warcraft but it would be even worse in this game where you can take 10 mins to travel from one side of the map to the other.

They can simply add a TIMER option which the host can choose.

We track a gazillion stats including quits, drops, losses and wins. We haven't decided if we will use this to create a ranking system or not but we will likely be exposing a number of stats to an ICO specific webpage.

For some reason there is a gross conceptual error about the way a stat system works. If you don't have a game mode that RANDOMLY matches players, stats are pointless. I could buy two games and play against myself all day to get my 100% win percentage. Don't even bother keeping stats unless you look at adding in a server hosted match up system. I really think it is what this game needs. I have the game shelved until I see some promising news on this.

I disagree. Stats would not be pointless because most people you play are going to be random anyway.

Also, if you're shelving a great game like Sins then you're stats are really going to suck when you come back because you're going to get owned since most of us are getting better and better everyday.

Go ahead and shelf your game. Leave as a newb, come back as a newb.

Cheers!

I went on ICO for the first time and there were 82 people online with 3 people in the lobby. They eventually left but one guy had a record of 41-1!!!! Yikes! I believe his screen name was [EC] Third Prophecy. He's probably on these boards. *scared*
