Favorite combo of Cap ships ?

As TEC player

1- What's your favorite Cap ship and why (special ability, damage, toughness...) ?

2- What's your favorite Cap combo (two of the same or two different ones) and why ?

3- What the heck does "embargo" do on the Sova ?  :)

Thanks

I forget which one it is at the moment (Rapture? Revelation?), but the Advent one that completely disables ships temporarily is incredibly useful. Knocking out capital ships from battle for short periods of time allows for the real damage dealers - the mass of frigs and cruisers - to be more quickly dealt with. This is especially useful when you're up against multiple high-level cap ships, since you can deal with fewer of them at a given time.

As advent:

1. Radiance - best BB tank in the game, sure it takes other ships to keep it from going out in a blaze of glory, but the more its hit the more AM it has to spend on dmg dealing abilities.

2. Radiance + progenitor + halcyon = Tank + shield regen/thorns + faster firing fleet
thing is though most caps need that support fleet to truly shine. with this fleet ilum and guardians.

3.
Embargo slows down the build times system wide and freezes all tradeships in the system. Basically a good 2 minute slowdown to your opponents economy; though would have to use it against a system that sees a lot of trade ships in order to be useful.
Ability User: Sova Carrier
Ability Type: Active
Target: Effects entire system.
Antimatter Cost: 85
Cooldown Time: 120
Duration: 120
Range: N/A
Effect(s):

* Ship build time: 30%
* Structure build time: 30%
* Phase Jump disabled

Akkan and Marza. Marza to lead the force to raze an enemy planet, and Akkan to colonize it once its been nuked clean.

My favorite cap ship is the one with the colony ability, because it's a great ship for the beginning to middle of the game. It saves a lot of time not having to manage colony ships separately, it draws a lot of enemy fire, and it can be used in defense in a pinch. If the free one gets destroyed, however, I usually don't build another, unless it's very early in the game. The only thing I don't like is that the vasari version of the ship has that boring teardrop design.

2-3 Kol's, and then one each of Dunov and Akkan. When I have my 3 Kol's I tend to add more of the others as well. My first two cap ships is always Kol since their firepower comes in handy, especialy at higher levels (6+). Even at low levels they can deal a great amount of damage even to large militia forces.

Favorite capital ship? The Vasari Desolator. It looks awesome, especially when it lets loose all those phase missiles.

Favorite combo of capital ships? More than my enemies, though only the Advent capital ships really synergize real well with each other.

I like Akkan, the aura buff is great. And its a good early colonizer, saves you money for colony frigate.

Of course nothing beats a Kol for survival.

What does the Akkan aura actually do?
Dont ships have 100% hit rate everywhere but in ion storms anyway?
So it only increases range a bit...

not all have 100%, things that can attack fighters/bombers do not have 100% (capital abilities have 100%).

you can see this at the bottom of the chart in:

in short makes fighters and flak better vs fighters/bombers.

Man, I hope that linking to those damn damage charts will ebb down at some point. I'm slowly thinking that they do more damage to the knowledge about the game than they actually help... :P

That chart only lists chance to hit vs fighters and bombers. So all other ships still have 100% accuracy?
Right now only flaks, abilities and fighters can influence strike craft right? Thus a chance to hit for anti-medium is pretty much useless.

ye "+chance to hit" seems useless (unless theres hidden modifiers not in entity files) if the enemy isnt massing fighters/bombers.

I guess no one likes the two Sova combo.
Are carriers not worth the cost/benefit for a TEC player ?
Reply #13 Top
They are. They just don't need other cap ships to be effective.

i like a bunch of Dunov with a few Kol and Dreadnoughts... Dunov Shield regen is simply awsome, 3 dunov or so almost garantees that the ship wont run out of shield and they wont be in need of AntiMatter to recast, + they can regen shield to eachother so... :o

I have to agree with the Kol/Dunov combo, its a very versatile group, especially combined with robotics cruisers. My "main fleet" group with the TEC will usually consist of 3 Kols, 2 Dunovs, and 1 each of Sova, Akkan, and Marza.

I'm beginning to like desolator/marauder as a raiding combo (at lvl 4 it starts to get really good)

A couple of siege platforms, infiltration, fast lab/trade post takedown and a sharp exit. Enough to warrant some attention, certainly.
