Question for Stardock: Fog of War issue, is it a bug or by-design:

I have a question about some behavior I am seeing with the fog of war. Is this by design that you can see alien ships orbiting their planets even though they are behind the fog of war? Once they leave orbit they are invisble until they come out of the fog, but isn't it a bug to be able to see them at their planets? To me it somewhat defeats the purpose of having fog of war especially on small galaxies where alien stars are usually close by.

Another similar question, you can also see when an alien race colonizes a new star even though it is behind the fog of war. I can understand the reasoning for this to be by design a little more than question 1.

Agreed. Didn't event hink of it though! I also think the sector ownership view filter should not reveal empires you haven't seen yet.

Ok, I need to update my post with more info. The fog of war is not working correctly when your ship(s) is destroyed by the enemy. This should of course cause the enemy ships to become invisble assuming that no other friendly ship is at that location. That is not happening. You can follow the enemy through the fog.

This to me seems to be the number 1 problem with this game. All of the other stuff that I have seen or read seems very minor (except for the people getting crashes of course).

Hopefully Stardock can comment on this problem. Thanks.

Fredick_Jacobson, Yeah I did. So even though the fog shows on the screen still, eye of the universe will allow you to see ships anywhere?

That will cancel my second post then. But my first one holds true for sure since I have played games from the beginning to test this out and there was no way I had eye of the universe then.
