possible AI bugs re: constructors
from
Stardock Forums
I was racing one of my constructors to a remote influence-resource when at the last moment a Drengin constructor swept in and beat me to it. (Damn, I hate when that happens!)
However, the next turn instead of building its hard-won starbase, the Drengin constructor turns around and heads off in another direction, basically surrendering the resource to me. I was glad to take it, but why did the Drengin do this? I had no other vessels in the area besides my defenseless constructor, so he couldn't have been intimidated by my presence there.
Seems like a bug to me. As slow as these constructors are and as valuable as resources are, I can't imagine ANY reason why the Drengin would voluntarily pull back from a fairly-captured resource to send that constructor elsewhere. Perhaps to reinforce another starbase in jeopardy that I didn't know about? Still, he wasn't at war with anyone at the time so that leaves no reasonable excuse I think.
Also, someone needs to look into how the AI is moving its constructors around during war. I had the Yor Collective move a horde of undefended constructors to reinforce a starbase in my territory while we were at war. A local corvette (aptly named "Millenium Falcon"
) single-handedly wiped out all 6 of them before the Yor sent in some corvettes of its own to scare it off. At 200 production points per constructor, that's a lot of wasted energy right there. No proper AI should be sending defenseless constructors into a war zone without some kind of escort. Please fix this somebody.
