Communicating with the baby.

kind of cool...

Yesterday I was "testing" our ten month-old baby Kenny.

I started out by asking him, "How big are you?" (He showed us.)   Then I sang "Pat-a-cake," and he clapped along.

Then I said, "What does the cow say?"

Kenny said, "Mmmmmmm."

Then I said, "What does the sheep say?"

Baby answered, "Baa!"

I thought that was really cool.  Besides "Mama," and "Dada," and "Duh" (for bird), baby says "Mmmm" and "Baa."

I am looking forward to communicating more with the baby.  It is really fun.

Interesting! I have a question.

> Baby answered, "Baa!"

Doesn't his cow sometimes say, "Mow, mow"?
Doesn't his sheep sometimes say, "Meh, Meh"?

I think you are "teaching to the test"! Is this part of the no child left behind program? Does good parenting keep children from being left behind? Grandpa could have told you he is the the smartest baby there is!

It was proven that babies can learn sign language much earlier than speech. The site: http://www.babysigns.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=aboutus.main

Of course, I would prefer you to use proper ASL (American Sign Language) to teach your baby.

Kenny is such a smartie pants! Are you teaching him Japanese as well?

Kenny likes a lot of Japanese stories and television shows.

It will be hard for us to get him to be completely fluent and literate in Japanese, but we can get him to be functionally literate in Japanese (if possible!)

We don't want to pressure him toomuch, so he can make his own choices.  He'll just have a jump on Japanese.
