My sickness that is JU

I guess it's because blogging is addictive that I continue to hang out here.

Among my real-life friends, acquintances, and co-workers, I'm regarded as intelligent, well-spoken, respected by my peers, reasonably analytical (my job relies on it, to some degree), good with customers and somewhat of a peacekeeper. (according to various feedback I've had over the years).

However, I don't whether it's the way I phrase things here, or whether the people are just more combative or, whether some people are are just rude pricks.

In my short time here, I've been insulted and name-called numerous times, including:

*an ass*
*that I don't think very analytically*
*a zealot*
*questioned as to whether I was on drugs*
*been told I have poor reading comprehension*

along with a few various other insults, which I've forgotten.

Anyway, maybe it's the way I phrase some things. Or maybe not.

But for me to continue blogging here in the face of this demonstrates that I'm probably in the grip of some sickness, just like a drug addict, perhaps.

My sickness that is JU.

I think you do come across as pretty intelligently most of the time.

I too get insulted regularly too much the same way you do in fact (same accusations even). If I may offer a critique, often times it seems to me that you read more into someone else's statement. That is, you have a pre-conceived notion of what someone thinks and will pigeon hole their entire statement into fitting that notion.

I'm familiar with that problem because I suffer it greatly myself. People like you (I suspect) as well as myself read a LOT and so we often just skim over what people say and hence will work off what we believe was the "gist" of what we think they're saying.

People get offended when I do that to them because they'll feel I'm misrepresenting their views (much like I got irritated when I felt my position on global warming was being misrepresented).

I don't know what the cure for that is because I have't found a way to avoid doing that yet myself.

Jay,
Just goes to show you how important body language is really....I think I have been slightly misconstrued a couple of times ....but I'm not sure....perhaps I am misconstrueing the misconstruer.....hard to tell sometimes when you cant see the expression, the body stance and the eyes of who you converse with.
Well, will see you around if you decide to hang around.......
