Caught Up

in other people's dramas...

I hold my tongue.
The problem with blogging, is that you often get caught up in other people's dramas, without meaning to. I try my best to remain silent when it seems like people are provoking each other intentionally. I generally choose to let those adults settle things between themselves. I mean, really, what are you gonna do? And like someone once mentioned, its easy to see the 'reality-tv' mentality come into effect when this happens. No holds barred action is about to take place, and before you know it, a crowd has gathered and we are all chanting 'fight, fight, fight' in unison and then the so-called fun really begins. And later, as the dust settles, people shake their heads, wonder what all the fuss is about, and simply walk away. It's memorable for a day or two, and later nobody remembers what the fight was even about. The only thing that is remembered weeks later is that both participants give off the loser-stink, just for going at it. And some of us regret for even egging them on.

i hate my life...
... simply because of scheduling difficulties. It's a pain in the arse, and I really need to actively seek a babysitter. One outside of my family. But I hesitate at that, because of all the horrors of babysitters that you read about. Like Jill's, like the one in the paper the other day, where a teenager was busy making out with her boyfriend while the parents were at work, and the kids left their backyard and drowned in a nearby river. Both of them. But I feel the need to seek additional care for her, because the amount of time that my family helps out leaves me hesitant, and unable, to secure them for aid when I just want to go out for a pint or two. Just a bloody pint.

shopping with the best of them
All right. I'll confess. Shopping is fun. And I feel incredibly girly in admitting it.

It's good to see a post from you! As you know, I've been caught up way too many times.
I was hoping that you were getting to enjoy some and getting the fun of back to school shopping and such! I always had the same fears about babysitters. Single moms have a rough time with getting breaks. I hope it works out that you can find one you trust soon.

nic, you are still a person, and i hope you don't feel guilty for needing some 'me' time. as hard as it is, you owe it to yourself and your daughter to give yourself a pat on the back occasionally and have some time to yourself. you're doing a damned good job. i take my hat off to you. you're a great mum, i can tell by your concern over your babysitting choice. your daughter is lucky to have you
