today i got up with the best of intentions!!!

hello all!
i have been following advice on organizing and keeping a cleaner house from flylady.net...(check it out if you are a clutter keeper!) .

it doesn't take much to throw of my good intentions...i actually made it to 9:30 am with my plan intact. i laid out my workout clothes, well, okay, a sports bra that i planned to put on under my sleeping tank top and excercised in my boxers...barefoot, but the point is that at 6;00 am i was standing with my full glass of water in front of my tv watching the intro for denise austin's fit and lite. i am not sure why it is titled that...although i did make it through the workout with out puking or needing to stop for a breath. then , i made it through a very weak shower that died completely as i was rinsing the conditioner out of my hair...and yelling over the shower door at my husband....there is obviously a problem with our well! well, no complaints here, i got dressed, fixed my hair and face, and headed to the kitchen to start the coffee and make the kids lunches. after waking and feeding 3 kids, saying bye bye to hubby and convincing the kids to dress and the 2 year old to let me comb her hair...we escaped the house...1/2 way to school my oldest son says"mom, did you put my gym clothes in my bag?" nope. didn't. he's 12, let him do a little for himslef...right? well, i decided he could have one freebie and i dropped the boys off and the baby and i rushed home to get the clothes....ran right back to school, snuck in the front door past the principal ( i am a former teacher there, so they let me wander aboout the building without worring about me!) i snuck to his locker and placed the clothing inside. feeling like such a great mom.....then i ran back home to drink my coffee...read my bible and generally try to get my head on straight for my day of cleaning! lo and behold, as i entered the house, i noticed my sons, yes, same 12 year old, lunch box on the piano. yep, the same lunch box i had handed him twice that morning. well, the policy at school is that middle school kids who forget their lunch don't get any! he would have to find someone to share with. i decided a good mom would run back to school withthe lunchbox and hide it in his locker ...he'd never know! but then i realized the best mom would let him scrounge among his friends for lunch....give a man a fish...teach a man to fish...you get the idea. then i went to the coffee maker to pour a cup of loveyly java....and the phone rang. i didn't get the coffee poured...it was my mother-in -law. who is scheduled to have a knee re-construction surgery on thursday....tha's in 3 days, folks!
she is having her house painted and new floors put down,,,i don't know what she was thinking, having lived with the walls and floors of this house for a good 35 years, but she got the bug and it is under construction. so, she needed to go to Penny's to find some curtains for the yet unfinished kitchen...and would the 2 year old and i like to drive 40 miles and pick her up and take her to the mall....my favorite place to take a 2 year old....and after having wrecked my brand new van last week, i have000000------00000money! so, i put the coffee ina carry cup, dressed the baby, still didn't get her to let me comb her hair...and wound up on the north side of town an hour later....after a day that magically included the disney store and bra shopping....who doesn't love that? we had lunch, i dropped her off and ended up in the parking lot of school 10 minutes before dismissal...so what's a girl to do with 10 minutes, a sleeping 2 year old and an empty parking lot...you guessed it...i leaned my seat back and snoozed. beautiful!

minutes later, the boys were out, we were heading to a friends' house for a play date afternoon....and would you believe it, she was decorating a harley davidson cake for a girlfriend....to look just like her husband's bike" and i stayed and enjoyed the laughter and joy of my friends. we even made orange flames on the bike!

now, later, at home in the quiet provided by cartoons that i allow for 1 hour, i am so tired....but the beauty of this day is not that i got my laundry done, not that i screamed at my husband for taking not only all the hot water, but all the water! and not that my son is learning about the importance of organization....but the fact that i spent my day with those i love. i made a difference today in a small way....but it feels good, and when my wonderful man comes home in a few minutes and hugs me in that way that closes out the world, he'll ask me "how was your day?" and i'll probably just say fine. but we all know it was more than that!

:) hope you have a great one too!"
