Asa-Makku

Also known as: McDonald's breakfast

I lived in two different apartments when I was working in Japan from 1996-2001.  Each apartment was located near a McDonald's restaurant.

The McDonald's at the first location was located inside of a department store, so I was unable to enjoy McDonald's breakfast (known in Japan as "Asa-Makku.")  At my second abode, I was happy to learn that I would be living by a McDonald's which served breakfast.

I like to treat myself with McDonald's breakfast on lazy weekend (or holiday-weekday) mornings on days which I am able to get out of bed by 10:30.  (I am a big fan of the bacon egg and cheese biscuits, as well as those new McGriddles.)

Since my wife, my son, and I are all taking the slow recovery-route from our jet-lag, I was definitely awake and ready for some McDonald's breakfast at around 8 o'clock this morning.  My wife had a "Deluxe Big Breakfast," and I had a "Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Biscuit Sandwich Set."  A happy and yummy breakfast was had by both of us.

Here's what it looked like:  (I had a Coke with my breakfast, and my wife had OJ.)

Sometimes I wish that McDonald's would serve breakfast all day.  (Occasionally in Japan, they run a "burger"-of-the-month promotion where they serve Sausage-Egg McMuffins on the lunch and dinner menu.  On those days, I am tempted to visit more than once.)

And now for something completely different:

The other day we bought a cute Mickey Mouse jogging suit for baby Kenny.  He looks kind of funny with the hood up.  It has floppy mouse ears on top.
