dharmagrl has not right to slander me. If I cannot go to another site and make negative slanderous statements about WC admins for example, then nobody should be able to do the same thing to me. I will not tolerate being slandered then being stopped from responding to it.

I think he's well at home over at petey's place.  He and Tech Cat are both top boys over there, from the looks of things.  Perhaps he's finally getting the recognition he feels he deserves.


The quote was referring to Anthony, not you, but there is nothing in there that can be considered slanderous.  But, if you think you have a case, complain to the admins.

Using another member's name in the title of an article is against the Terms of Service.

I created that screen name, therefor it is mine. If Prince can hold intellectual property rights over that symbol he once used as his name, then certainly I can old property rights over "Tech Cat."

Please, don't keep tossing the 'slander' card on the table. Judgemental it might be, but slanderous it's not.  If I were to have a banner headline saying 'Greywar is a closet homo' at the top of a web page I had built, and if I told everyone that greywar was gay - not 'i heard he was' gay, but 'he is gay' - then greywar would have cause to first send me a 'cease and desist' letter and then, if I didn't obey the C&D, then he would have cause to file suit.  I know what I'm talking about, I had to look into filing a slander and defamation of character suit a couple of months ago.

A symbol is an expression of art, very easy to copyright. A name is NOT. You can refer to a name anytime you like, in any manner you like as long as it is not ACTUAL SLANDER... George W. Bush can NOT sue Reuters for publishing his name in an article just because he may not like the article. My name was in my local paper the other day because someone else was recounting a funny story that involved me. They did not need to seek permission to use my name. The use of names and likenesses so long as it is not for profit or to slander/defame is considered FAIR USE. Online aliases fall under the same heading as they're simply another facet of your person. Dharma isn't trying to capitalize on your identity to sell something, she doesn't gain in any way, and stating her opinion of you is NOT slander.

I strongly suggest you acquaint yourself with both the proper definition of slander and then maybe brush up on some intellectual property law.

Bakerstreet, in a fair fight (one where I don't get banned for posting two anti bush posts on the same day) I'd have you on your back screaming for your momma inside of 20 seconds. Ten seconds for you, CSGuy. I make no protestation of unfairness; I'm just stating a fact that I would banned pronto for saying the things you guys say on a daily basis. It's pretty challenging task to take on The Swarm; doubly so when my rules of engagement are more restrictive than yours.

Want to know why four people attack me in a thread on blogging etiquette? Because they see BakerStreet, Greywar, and now DhramaGrl taking indefensible shots at solo bloggers like me, think it's OK, even encouraged by admin.

There's no way JJ or Techcat or whatever his name is said anything near bad enough to warrent "Welcome to El Blacklisto, fuckstick". Funny, Greywar said those words to me once after he made the mistake of picking a fight with me.

Maybe she sees Greywar acting like that and thinks it's OK, even encouraged?

BTW, as for Tech Cat, Sir Peter Maxwell and the others, I'm about ready to eliminate them from the site entirely. This "new money" peasant doesn't have to put up with "slander" (libel) either.

Nothing lamer than one clique bitching about another clique. I really don't like cliques to begin with but they're a fact of life. I just try to stay away from them if I can.

David: Do you know why TechCat got banned in the first place? He went onto WinCustomize's forums and attempted to destroy them with 70 or so  "Jafo is a NAZI" posts in a row. That's the kind of guy he is.

You know what really galls me? I was privately taking a beating on there by the moderators and admins defending TechCat before he did that. I had removed ops from certain people on IRC who were baiting TechCat.  And what do I get? I get on his enemy's list and now called "Owner X" of "Site X". What had I ever done to him? Nothing. I was one of his biggest defenders privately. He only lasted as long as he did because I was speaking up for him.  But when he wrecked the message forums with his 70+ posts, what choice did I have?

And the whole point whoring gets on my nerves too because they think it's easily manipulated. It's only easily manipulated if you're relying on the piddly amounts of points you get from comments and insightfuls. The real points are when you get out there and get lots of READERS of your blogs. That's why there's a huge gulf between my blog and others.  I don't even need anyone to comment on my blogs because lots of people come and read what I write.  That could be the same with others.

I do wish the people around here would quit obsessing over one another. It's just bizarre. Black list the people who get on your nerves and move on.

What a bunch of bull.  I haven't seen Bakerstreet say anything ban-worthy and is an excellent debater.  Give an example of something Baker or CSGuy said "on a daily basis" that you'd get banned for.  I have been on this site for a long time and know darn well you didn't get banned for posting anti Bush posts.  I don't proclaim to know the circumstances of your banning but do know that there is plenty of anti Bush stuff on the site.  I think you are giving yourself far too much credit here.
