GalCiv: Bug: "You are falling behind technologically"

No...GalCiv just applies rigorous standars, as to what you tecnological level should be LOL

Could be Asmo, but I DO think it's a 'bug' too. Even when technologically you're rocking compared to the other races it only says 'we're doing okay technologically".

You are Human. You're supposed to be more clever than birdbrains, space apes, washing machines, and antisocial bikers with facial tattoos. LOL

Sounds to me like a continuation of similar issue on how the game takes a few turns (upon reload) to count back all the influence, etc. You'll notice those number chance at reload and eventually settle themselves back.

Perhaps the tech rating does the same thing?

What yin said. In my latest reload, the drengin were getting the snot beat out of them by me and the altarians who were alos at war with eachother. Upon the reload it showed that the drengins had about 40 percent of the sectors. Within 2 turns it was back to normal with the drengins having no sectors

I don't mind that it takes a couple turns for sector ownership to sort itself out once the game is reloaded. But the program should be able to figure out whether you're ahead or behind technologically (based on which techs you have and which techs other civilizations have). In my book, the "We're falling behind technologically" is a "bug".

I think that the tech rating is actually off of how many tech points you are producing, not how many techs you have researched. It may be something like when you first load it doesn't calculate the bonus tech points correctly so it is telling you that you are falling behind.

has ANYONE seen it say anything other that "we are falling behind" or "we're doing ok" ??? Cause thats all I've seen.

That's all I've seen. Even when I am leading in the tech graph and have many many more techs than any of the other races.

I think this is a bug too, although a very minor one. It will say you're doing ok even if you are 10 techs up on everyone. And it will say you are falling behind if anyone has a tech you dont have.

The tech graph at the side of the screen does show how much you are spending on research, not your tech level. This is not explained in the manual, but some quick experamentation shows it to be the case.

There seems to be a lot of bugs related to reloads right now.
