How do I build an artificial planet?

I have the "artificial planet" tech but can't figure out how to build one. The synopsis of the tech just states that I can "theoritically" build my own planets but must overcome the sufficient mass need to do so. That is both cryptic and unhelpful. Has anyone figured out how to make use of this tech?

You can't. I think its a case of it's too expensive to be worthwhile building planets.

I don't think it would work very well in game terms if you could anyway.

I love the way that the starbases gradually increase in size and complexity with the modules that you add.

Of course, in the vein of this thread, I would love to see the end-all be-all of starbase add-ons to be a Dyson Sphere...thereby giving you your artificial planet.

Well, I do think the Dyson sphere thing would be cool for those systems that don't have *any* habitable planets at all, not even a class 1. Then it'd be perfectly okay to build a giant sphere around the star.

RingWorlds Also would be cool and I hope to see this kind of stuff added someday :)

Of course, a Dyson Sphere takes an awful lot of material to build. Maybe you could find a system with a lot of poor planets, break them up and use their mass to build the Dyson Sphere but seems like a lot of expensive work. All in all I think Dyson Spheres are ringworlds are a bit too big for GC.
