Alysia Is Sick

I'm sorry that Shawn and I haven't written lately. We've both been at the hospital. I came home tonight to get some sleep. My daughter is sick. She has had a fever of around 105 most of the week. It was lower at first, and it has just shot up over the past few days.

I ddon't really have much time to talk. I need to get back to the hospital. They aren't sure what's wrong with her. But she wouldn't eat, and she's been wheezing sort of, which was the reason I took her to the ER Tuesday night. They admitted her then, and they are trying to help her breathe.

I feel like I've done something wrong. Like I was a bad mother for letting my baby get sick. The doctor keeps telling me, that it wasn't my fault, and it's just her lungs. Nothing that I could have done to prevent it. That doesn't change the way I feel though. I am going to sleep for an hour or two, then I might get back on before I go back to the hospital.

Oh yeah, if Poetmom is reading this, Shawn told me to ask you what your wearing.

He also said to tell everyone Hi.

EMMA! Why didn't you call me??? I know there's nothing I can do, but I would have gladly stayed at the hospital with her so you could sleep! If you need ANYTHING remember, you can call me. Alysia is like a little sister to me now, I'll do anything to help her, or you or Shawn. Just let me know.

Sweetie, it happens....babies get sick, and there's usually nothing we could have done to prevent it. When my first was five months old, he was in the hospital for a week, throwing up, running a fever, and just plain miserable. So I know all about that guilty mom feeling....but you have to get past it. Just be there for Alysia, and be sure you take care of YOU as well, because it's not going to do her any good for her to come home from the hospital to a Mom who is sick. exhausted, malnourished, or any of those other things. I'll be praying for all of you....be sure to keep us posted when you can.

Oh yeah, if Poetmom is reading this, Shawn told me to ask you what your wearing.

That's so sweet of you, Ashlee....maybe you could go by the hospital sometime and MAKE Emma leave for a while.....she needs to take care of herself, just like I told her above....even if it's just to take a shower and get something to eat, or to take a short nap in her own bed....

Thanks. Since you asked to be kept posted. . . I will tell you the most recent news I have. (Shawn just called and woke me up to tell me) The doctor said she will most likely be in the hospital for another week at the least. Shawn said he couldn't remember what all the doctor said. I don't think I like having Shawn there all by himself being the adult. He doesn't seem to pay attention much, so he misses half the conversation. Therefore I will be going back to the hospital soon.

I don't think he's ever gone a day without it! ... I will tell him what you said. As soon as I know exactly what it is that's going on with Alysia, I will post it. Well, actually when I know and have time to post it.

BTW, Ashlee is a very sweet girl. I don't know what I'd do without her at times. When I first had Alysia, Ashlee would take Paige to the pool with her and they'd spend a couple hours together, which helped me out A LOT!

Thanks you Emma! I will probably be stopping by tomorrow, you NEED to sleep, and eat and whatever else it is you haven't been doing. You're like the responsible "sister" I never had. (well.. I' have sisters, but responsible sisters? nah) Anyways. . . If you need me to bring anything tomorrow, just let me know! I'm seriously only a phone call away! I'm home a lone and I'm bored. So... like I said, Just call me, I'd be glad to help you in whatever way I possibly can.

Men! They think they're listening, but then they can't tell you a darn thing! Sorry to hear you may have another long week ahead of you....prayers and good thoughts to all three of you.

I spoke with the doctor after I got back to the hospital, He said Alysia has pneumonia. His exact words were "Emma Leigh, I'm sorry. But we're doing the best we can here. She's not responding well to anything, and I'm running out of things to do. It's just getting worse."

Should I be worried? I mean, How bad can pneumonia get? I don't know all that much about it. And I'm really afraid to lose my baby.

Shawn still doesn't realize that it could be serious. He's sitting at the hospital reading his "Chess for Idiots" book. And laughing at himself. I'm sitting here in the family room like thing that they set up for us, They allowed me to use my laptop in here. so.. thats what I'm doing.

I'm scared.

Emma, What time is visiting hours over? I want to come over to be with you guys for a bit. I have to leave by 11 though if I come. BUT I am definitely coming tomorrow. I have a feeling you are going to need a break from sitting at the hospital.

Oh Emma I am so sorry your sweet baby is sick. I am saying a prayer for you all. Remember to take care of yourself too, Alysia needs you, and needs you to be healthy, so make sure you are eating and sleeping. You are in my prayers. You know my email, if you need ANYTHING!

I'm so sorry Emma. My daughter got really sick when she was little and had to go to the hospital. That was the scariest time in my life. My thoughts and prayers are with you all.
