I was going to ask this, too.

The Corvette, the BattleAxe, the Frigate, the Ranger, the Space Shark (the original), the Starhawk, the Survey Ship.... those ships have the ability, the others not. I can't see any effect in the game if you remove or add that ability to a ship.

"Allow 0 ATT to Attack" :notsure:

Could it be that only ships with the "Attack"-ability can be set on "Auto-attack"? It must have SOME meaning... all the other abilities like SURVEY, COLONIZE, TROOPS or TRADE are self-explanatory... but ATTACK!? Perhaps they've got the license to do it, all the other ships are illegal aggressors and you get more and more EVIL by attacking with non-attack ships... As old Groo would say: "Did I err?" ;p

Are we speaking about the ship detail-screen in the game (when you click on "i"), or GalCiv Writer/Notepad here?

As far as i know you can set all ships that have an attack value greater than 0 on auto-attack. As i'm waging war only on auto-attack without getting more evil, it must be something else.

We are speaking about the Notepad "Attack"-Ability here. But - as you already said earlier - there seems to be no game-effect if you remove the ability. Odd... :notsure:

This ability is actually named "allow attack with 0 atk" An it allows ships with an attack power of 0 to attack enemy crafts, such as the basic Survey ship.

In most cases it is used with ships that have the ability to explore anormalies. In others I have no idea why it is used

Thanks Icho! Meanwhile I found a description on the GalCiv Writer homepage:

"It is only necessary to add the "Attack" ability when this ship class has a zero as an ATTACK factor. Any ship with a non-zero ATTACK factor is assumed to be able to attack. Use this for ships like the Survey vessel whose ATTACK factor is zero, but might be raised through an anomaly."

By the way: Your mods are FANTASTIC!!! I assume that you like Perry Rhodan as much as I do...

'Til the next puzzle I stumble upon as I get deeper and deeper into GalCiv! :HOT:

I wonder why those were given the ability...
