Hi :)

when you got used to the game and start submitting your results you should have a look at the empire pages (check the Metaverse buttom from above).

It's just one click to join an empire. Empires rival simply by collecting the points of their members.

I just joined The Jedi Republic http://www.galciv.com/metaverse/empires.asp?id=336 but there are many other nice empires as well. Surf a bit on their sites and in the Empire forum here on this site http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GE

Feel free to ask any question. Usually the audience is very helpfull.

If you have any question, just ask. You might want to look at the strategies button to the left if you get stuck.

:CONGRAT: :D ~ happy with his first masochistic win ~ :D :CONGRAT:

Today i tried a tiny masochistic game and that was incredibly difficult. I finally won a military victory (could have gone for alliance, but wanted to kick some Altarian butt). That was hard! I even had to explode some of my own planets because that was my only chance to stop them from taking my planets (sorry people from Sol (:( )

The 'huge' maso will have to wait till I get some more experience. I might go for the 'game of the month' in the meantime! Thanks for the invitation!

No, you can submit modded games. If the system detect that you have an unfair advantage, like turning on cheats key, or having an empire wide bonus PQ greater than 40 (I speak about empire bonus, not planetary PQ), you will have an anomalous score (0).

Welcome Capt Apollo and fhqwqadshq (how do you remember what to type? :) ). You will find a lot of help in the Strategies forum - button on the left. Also, some of the empires have collections of strategies for various levels that are useful. Joining an empire also is beneficial and fun. Lastly, if you have any question, or just like to chat, chat away.

Welcome Capt Apollo and fhqwqadshq (how do you remember what to type?

actually i dont....and i messed it up a bit. there should be no "hq" on the end - while registering i got a bit frustrated and so used (hold on while i copy and paste my name)fhqwqadshq- check out www.homestarrunner.com, strong bad e-mails, "i love you",or under toons, "everybody to the limit". funny stuff.

cool - i got mine only slightly modded to allow aggressive minor civ colonization and invasions. oh, and ai tech victory. i generally don't play over the bright level, try to mod the game to make it more tough at lower levels, prefer a voluntary handicap to playing at levels where the ai just cheats to provide a challenge. question - at higher levels of difficulty does this game kind of devolve into limited if not singular style of play inorder to win (like, in my experience civ3) or are all options for victory realistically available?

anyhoos this looks like a really cool online community and i'm glad to be here. :HOT:

Congratulations Cpt. Apollo! :CONGRAT: You might want to take at look in the strategy section and see my SMALL and MEDIUM MASO walkthrus http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=184202#190283 I would have done a Tiny walkthru but it was very similar to the SMALL.

Go to http://www.wincustomize.com and then you can edit your name fhqwqadshq so that it is right. Wincustomize is a Stardock site that contains info related to everyones login.

All styles are still available, but the AI gets a lot of help at Maso level so most people evolve to alliance victory while building no military at all, just relying on starting bonuses, e.g, using the political party, Research, Inc. (a mod you can download) and researching diplomacy as much as possible. Maso strategies are available. But, you can, if you want, play the game in 35 minutes and win an alliance victory for 60K points.

That's pathetic, and I may not ever play this game again because of it. :notsure:

I've never gotten 60k points and it doesn't really bother me. I enjoy playing the game for what it is. You shouldn't let how others play ruin it for you.

Thats absolutely true. I enjoy playing the game for what it can show me :)

I think I would be better at playing GalCiv if I looked at the AI as being a computer program in which a certain 'user imput' results in a dictated output.

My problem is that I find it much more fun to see the individual races as 'aliens' and that my strategies are therefore not as optimal as they could be.

I also enjoy the game for what it is! Let's just hope Stardock will put a lot of effort in the Galciv2 gameplay, instead of focussing all of their attention on graphics.

You do know the AI play the same game as you do right?

:)

I view them as aliens too; but I also realize they want to conquer me as much as I want to end the game :D
