Problem with senate bonuses after saving

I've just started to play GalCiv and I REALLY like it. But, something bothers me...
When I lose the elections, I get penalties because my
party doesn't control the senate anymore. Then, I save
the game and exit. When I load the game, I again have
the bonuses and it says "your party controls the
senate" even though on "senate graph" it clearly says,
for instance: my party 37 places, Federalists 45...
Where is the problem?

Sorry if you already solved this, and I didn't see
it... Please help because I would really love to play
the game, but without this error. Thank's very much!

What is annoying you with this error? Look like a very nice workaround to lif penalties :)

I guess it hasn't be spotted before since everybody try to keep the control of the senate.

Yes, you got a point there. :) But it means that I really don't have to win the elections to have the bonuses... It's just not fair. Anyone familiar with this problem?...

I never lost control of the senate since my early first games. I suggest when you approach the elections to adjust the sliders to reflect the party you picked. If you understand what I mean? If your party is big in research then you will need to do that. If another party is dominating then adjust the sliders to make that one not be dominate. It is a little trial and error thing with me at least.

I am a rookie forgive me if my tips are not great. :)

So far my tactic is to do some propaganda on all my planets two or three turns before the elections. I don't use propaganda at all (so far), but in that period I put it to 20% (don't want to be too annoying, ha ha). That usually works, because without propaganda morale is around 50%, and on election month it's about 60-70. But I'm playing my first real game, so maybe I'll change the tactic in future ones. Thanx DFox!
P.S. How come you're a rookie if you are a "Veteran"? :SURPRISED:

Nah hes not a rookie. If oyur people are happy you will win the election. This means high Morale. If your morale is below 50 you will probably loose the election. 50 to 55 gives you about a 50% chance of winning. Above 55 Morale and you should not have a problem. You can do this by setting your tak rate where you want it, click the planet icon, lower leftof screen, scroll through the sort options, top right of screen when looking at planets. Scroll to Morale. This will list your planets in order of there morale. If you have planets that are high in morale and 1 or 2 that are lagging behind, apply propaganda in the details screen. This will give oyu maximum taxes w/ maximum morale. Hope this helps.

Well you should have always morale on any of yours planets greater than 54% to ensure growth. Population is an important key for success. So you should always ensure maximal pop growth. This thread can help you to maximize pop growth http://www.galciv.com/forum.asp?BID=GS&id=155077

Thanks Phoenix! I didn't pay much attention to that. So 54% is the limit for population growth... Hm, that gives another perspective.
