a question about galaxies...

just wondering... what do you think would most closely approximate the milky way?

Gigantic and ...
Tight/Lose/Scattered? ...
Rare/Uncommon/Ocasional/Common/Abundant? ...

I know the frequency of Earthlike planets will be a total guess really, but are there any amature astronomers out there that can tell me about the star clustering?

Depends.

Since you're obviously only looking at a section of the galaxy, which one are you looking at? One of the outer arm edges? Inside an arm? The center?

I'd wager a guess that our own location would be Scattered and Rare.

But then, what do I know, I'm just a hobbyist ;)
