Evil better than Good?

After playing a few games I have come to the conclusion that it seems to be MUCH more profitable to be Evil than Good. I'm curious as to what other people think.

When you choose an Evil path, some of the advantage you gain are significant. Some are very nice long term advantages (like +xx% PQ). At the end either side gets alignment specific things, but neither is better than the other there. So what if other civilizations are not nice to you when you are evil? If you play as aggressive as I am, they all end up disliking you anyway. It seems when you choose "Bad" it is more advantageous than "Good" everytime.

So what am I missing?

When you're playing at high difficulty and all the AIs get bonuses, you really can't afford to be that aggressive. Survival depends on your ability to stay out of wars you're not ready to fight, so being good can be more profitable in the long run. And even if it isn't, you have a clean conscience.

I find I prefer Evil... but thats just ingrained in me now. I cant play a pure good game without much strength of will. Plus evil can be fun ;) theres no morals to hold you back or diplomats.. just one push of a button and....

Don't forget: your morality don't change with the offensive use of Terror Star :) . After all, armaggeddon means the final battle between good and evil (or evil in disguise), so everything against your foes (not your own peple) is admitted to win the final battle :)

There are disadvantages to playing Evil. Don't forget the Fundies or the fact that almost any "Good" race might decide you "fit the definition" of Evil and come after you when you least expect it.

If you are pure good then towards the end of the tech tree you also get to build the best ship in the game. Excalibur

I like being good to pure good myself. The fundmentalists are a pain in the backside to deal with when being evil. I play chaotic good though usually going evil in the beginning of the game and use events to get back. I am 100% in my current game saintly! :d

NeoTech Gaming Network http://www.neotechgaming.com a sci-fi themed site supporting Galciv of course. :p

Yeah, I'm pretty sure you get those if you're evil or neutral as well.

Fundies are extremely painful when they happen to you, and being evil is mandatory to get annoyed by it. On maso, not playing diplomacy means you're going to lose (at least for me), so it's way easier to win as a good race than as an evil race, provided there is one or two good races around too.
