Manufacturing/Production

Hey group just have some questions about maufacturing ships or social products it takes me forever to build anything. For earth it may take like 16-20 months to build a constructor and on other worlds it takes 50 months. I thought this was attributed to population but I am not quite so sure it has that big of an effect, also thought some attributed to morale but I am usually in the 70-80% range. I have build Manufacturing centers and the linke but after my initial colony rush (where I max military sliders and pump colony ships out like there going out of style) I am unable to build anything quickly. Just got frigate technology and even on earth it would take like 33 months to build thats unbelievable. And my economy doesnt seem to bad can someone give me a hand as to how to get things produced quicker. Oh I also use star bases but not sure how to optimize them as I do build modules to increase %5 social and military but I cant seem to produce constructors quick enough

You can increase military spending in your government economy screen. That way more money is spent on production so you produce ships faster.

But bear in mind that in reality producting a transport ship that can contain 1million people (200 times bigger than a large aircraft carrier in the US navy) in only a few years is acually fairly fast already.

Yeah I get the realism bit but I kinda ignored it since we are dealing with a game that involves outer space aliens and such...lol

Anyway what is the typical average on build times or is there a better way to maximize construction/build times thats what I am looking for

build times will dramitcally come down as you technolically progress and make more manufacture upgrades, and build factory Starbases. Usually when i get to the dreadnaught level they take on average 15-25 turns to produce one, which i like as it is a MASSIVE expensive ship, later on though i can pump them out in 8 or 9 turns, and then its the Overlords, or Avatars that take 20 odd turns, then i progress again etc and i can then build those ships in half the time.

Be patient i think is the only advice, and to make the manufacturing upgrades.

Using starbases along you can give a sector a +395% production bonus!! thats not including the planetary upgrades.

but given the same tech level and spending slider and social improvements and 2 different planets, what determines the difference in build-speed between the planets? Is it population? Does each point of population add to the manufactur capacity? Or is it something else?

more populations does indeed equal more base production. Hence why peoplelove to grab the uber rare 26 base class planets

just build the factory upgrades, i.e all of the ones that increase military and social production.

Hi,

I think population affects production in a minor way only. It's Planetary quality that affects it much more.

Cant be too sure but I've had planets with same population but different qualities eg (14 vs 18) at same upgrades producing very differently in terms of build times.

Also, starbase upgrades seems to be key in getting production up. Why get 1 starbase only when you can have 2 at twice the price =)...

Planet quality does affect production more.
It is very difficult to get more than 10 times the planet's quality non-free IUs. ;)

I think you're overall economy has a big effect also, as those sliders represent a % of your total spending. So if you're economy is big, you'll do a lot of production with that money, but if you're economy is weak, even a big planet with lots of upgrades won't have any money to build with. I always take economy bonus instead of military/social production, and it seems to work well that way.
