Question for Technician:

Question for Technician:

Here it is:

"Dude. What is UP, man?!"

I don't begrudge anyone their talents for the game, and in fact am highly admiring of anyone who can put in the time and study to excel at anything in life, but this guy is pumping out two or three gigantic/maso victories PER DAY for the past, what... half year or so? What is UP?

Other questions are:

1. How long does each one generally take?
2. How does it not get boring doing the same thing over and over and over and over and over and over again? (At least, when you look at the game record, it looks somewhat repetitive... maybe each of the games is a new, exciting adventure, I dunno.)

I'm afraid this message will sound accusatory, trust me that I don't mean it to. I'm just curious how (and why!) he does it.

I mean, even on Large, the only games I've played which took less than three or four hours were ones that I lost quickly (and there were a LOT of them, don't you worry!)

Is this just a ONE-MAN GC WRECKING CREW or what?

(If this has been discussed before, just point the way. I did a search but failed at finding anything.)

I will have to step in here and make a statement. As founder of the Crazy Canucks empire and having on more than one occasion publicly stated that I believe Tech may be insane I feel that that his problems are a figment of our imagination and that he really is alright.

Then again ... our empire starts with the word Crazy ... :SURPRISED:

gee... looks like the fishing is great in this lake.. lots of us FLOUNDERS around .. I hope that no one catches us... LOL so we can breed and multiply.. It would appear that we are a dying Species... I havn't seen many new empires startup in the last 6 months or so.. maybe now that its spring down under.. they may start appearing again. Rival Alpha species always make for a better more diverse metaverse... ;)

Do you think if I flounded... I mean, founded... a new empire, anyone would join it?

There are so many small empires...
We could all use some players...
best would be we take them from the Guardians

Yeah, but persuading the Guardians to leave isn't easy.
What we really need is fewer empires. We need some people to give up on their own empires and decide to throw themselves into the kind of new, exciting, active empire I like to imagine mine would be.

I have some advantages as an empire founder - a lot of players already know my name. It's pretty much impossible for a newer player to gain the sort of momentum required.

We are a younger empire and still have an active core, even if many have retired. If all of the active (submitted in last 30 days) Guardians formed a new empire, we would be in second place, just behind the inactive Galactic Guardians.

But to the larger question, I would like to see some rejuvination of the empires and have some new ones out there shaking up the order.

A good (known) name is always a good point for an empire

Not necessarily equivalent, i.e. good and known :D LOL :D

The optimum strategy is probably the Theoden Technique:

Join a really big empire.
Raise your profile, for example by editing the Metaverse Review.
Wait until your emperor retires and the empire's momentum is gone. Then strike out on your own and hope some people follow you. If they do, then others will follow, and these will be the most active players.

I wish I had joined the Guardians now...

You still can :)

I mean, I wish I'd joined the Guardians because if I had, I'd now be in a good position to split you up and lead half of you away into my new empire. I don't think joining now would have the same impact. My objective has always been to find or build an empire which had some hope of overtaking the Guardians.

Very ambitious, but doable, mainly because the old empire shrinks as you syphen off the best players.

How counter-revolutionary! :D The problem is, as I pointed out before, is even if all the active Guardians left, the GG would still be in first at an estimated 10M or so. You would need more than just us. Maybe us + active Aldarians + Canucks. At which point, you have almost exausted the top ranks of the active player pool anyway, so there would be nobody to compete against.

I should have said us + active Aldarians or Canucks.

Wow, hadn't realised it was as tough as that. Let's see, suppose I managed to recruit the two Guardians present, and Ricbayer, and, let's say, Technician himself... We'd still be a long way behind. But it would be a challenge! And as the retired Guardians' scores decayed, it would eventually become a real possibility. Did anyone think Theoden would overtake the Special Forces when he started out?

Probably not, but then I suspect he also didn't think that he would eventually disapear. You have been around a long time and one would have to ask, will he be here for the long hall or is this just the final burst ofo glory? :p

I joined in the middle of the hunt, so I saw it as a challange, but not impossible. But 10M seemed unbelievable once.

If I remember correctly the Guardians was founded as a splinter group from your empire.

I think it is still possible to build a team to dethrone the Guardians, would be fun to try anyways :notsure:

I was hoping that the Diplomats with their open door policy and great resources would of been the next empire to rule the Metaverse but I was wrong.

As crazy as I am I can start my own empire and when everybody gets tired of GC and their scores degrade my one person empire would rule the Metaverse.

I hope some will try. Just not with our members! LOL

I thought so too, at least jointly with us, and am sorry to see them inactive.

Yup.

I didn't join the Guardians because I had a story arc in progress. I think my empire will be a themed empire. Would people be interested in a superhero/supervillain theme? Anyone got any better ideas?

Hmmm...as long as my emperor is active I'll remain an Aldarian. I'm happy just to be in top 10 as an individual and as an empire. :)

I did have an idea for what empire I would join if I left. I'd join the Arnor led by Frogboy and semi-retire.
