galciv.exe runs but no application starts

is this something someone has already sorted out

i can see the exe in my process list but no application ever starts for altarian or base galciv.

i am running the current versions.

for altarian gcloader can start the scenario/map/etc editors but same result with galciv.exe

i can't seem to find any log files

Try rebooting your system. I had this problem for a while and I had to reboot to get the game to run.

Also check the debug.err file in the galciv/AP directory. It might give you a hint as to what is going on.

You're missing dlls. Install this version of SDC and it should take care of the problem.

Thanks CariElf that worked a trick - that stardockcentral20.exe was larger than my copy of it - obviously the missing link libraries

Strange that it reported no errors anywhere though

A missing .dll message would have sent the flags right up for me.
