no firewall or router on but still says people can't join?

Why when I host a game do I get the message saying most people can't join it? I disabled my router just to host a game so I have nothing blocking it at the moment, I don't get it.

You can sitll create a game and see if people can join.  The message is very conservative. My machine gets the same message (due to some of Vista's "security") but people can still join.

When you say you disabled your router did you physically disconnect it and plug your computer directly into the internet connection? If you are using a DSL modem or cable modem those still have ports and firewalls built into them. I suggest what you do is go into your router and open up port 6112. Make sure you are using the right IP address to forward the port. The best way to find your IP addy is to go to START on your computer click RUN then type in CMD. From there type in IPCONFIG this will give you the IP address for your computer. Then you should be able to host any games you want. Hope this helps.

The issue is though (and I had this last night as I hosted my first game) is that its a very conservative message.

After an hour of work learning how to open ports and do port forwarding, I *still* got the message--but it worked (at least for the person I was playing against).

I get the same message every time I host a game. I have no fire wall running while playing and just have a cable modem. But so far no one has seemed to have a problem being able to join the games I host.

I say everyone goes back to dialup, it will work for sure then ;)

On page 5 of the guide posted by "the Monk" which is here... http://www.kiclan.com/Monk/Networking_and_SINS_by_the_Monk.pdf

It explains that apparently, like others have said before me, if you fail any of the "checks" that Ironclad Online does, any of them at all, then you get that message. Getting the message does not mean that you can't host. I get the message and can still host. The guy who wrote the guide gets the message and can still host. Some people above my post here have said they get the message and still can host.

So I would suggest ignoring the error message if you know you've set everything up correctly, and see if people can join your game anyway. The guy who wrote the guide says a patch should make the error come up less.
