Auto-queueing?

Hi everyone -

Is there any way to queue up a ship (or mix of ships) from a factory, and have it auto-build that ship or mix indefinitely, similar to the game Supreme Commander? I'm sick of having to rebuild/reinforce a fleet in the aftermath of a big battle because I'm too busy micromanaging it to click on a planet every few seconds to keep a ship queue going. I'd rather have my factories constantly pumping out ships without having to babysit them.

Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks,
Prundogg

I agree that this would be good. Please, Ironclad? Just have like a "repeat queue" button or something. :)

They were obviously inspired by SupCom in some ways, but could take a few other things to automate and reduce micromanagement.

Being able to set a reinforce point to a fleet is cool though. That way you have to manage building the ships, but once they're built, they'll automatically fly out to the fleet.

Totally agree with repeatable queues and reinforce points on fleets. Those two things would be incredibly nice.

Hrm, how about a history of losses and kills, so you know what has to be replaced?

Taking it one step further, how about an option for a fleet to automatically order replacements for lost ships from the nearest factory. Have the replacement ships automatically set themselves up like the ships they are replacing. For example, a carrier with a fighter squadron is destroyed, the replacement automatically builds a fighter squad. It sucks to see brand new carriers jumping in with no air support!

I understand that there has to be limits to how much automation is allowed for fear of the game "playing itself," but in a game this size micromanagement isn't always an option.

Taking it one step further,

I'd like a repeat queue option, but the one step further might be one step too far. Often times, I will send ships in to battle to free up some unit cap. Also, if they just got their butts handed to them, I'm probably going to want to try a different mix of ships the next time.

Right, it would be more of an in-battle feature so you wouldn't have to fool around with queuing ships not knowing which ones will be destroyed. If I'm attacking something I generally send a balanced fleet. I don't want my LRMs replaced by robotics cruisers :)

After a good butt-handing I agree that it might be good to try something different. That's why it should be a toggle, kind of like tactics or group jumping. I can see it now, "auto-replace lost ships."
