Pirates a little indiscriminate in thier targeting

Well that didn't work

just tried an interesting game...

9 AI's huge FFA... (yea ok I bit off more than I could chew)

I like the pirates option but had a little issue with this game. the Pirate base was located with only 1 link which happened to be with one of my systems. the end result was that no matter who the pirates were off to attack they had to go through my systems to do it.

problem with that was that any errant frigate or bomber or weapons platform the pirate fleet HAPPENS to come in contact with engages and the pirate fleet automaticly forgets the bounty and comes after me...

yea sucks.

heh must be a random occurence :-) remember unless you select a premade maps most maps setup are totally random :-)

I've been in that situation. Best thing to do is clear out the system and dock your fighters when the pirates are going through. You can move your frigates to the other side of the system and reduce their engagement range.

You can also just set auto-attack off, and keep an eye out until the pirates are gone.

Or, if its that much of a problem and the planet is more trouble than its worth, abandon it and leave it for another Empire to take, let the Pirate buffer fall into his territory. Problem for you solved, and a problem gained for the AI.

I have had pirates merrily fly through my fleets to reach the next planet over to complete bounty, even taking massive amounts of fire and loses. I have never had them decided to stop going after some one else to shoot me.
