[HH] Hopeful Horizon

[HH] Hopeful Horizon

another sins clan

Hopeful Horizon is a (slightly) new clan popping up in a (slightly) new game. My friend Braden and I are co-leading the clan, and although new to this, we do have experience in running a clan. We have done a Age of Empires 3 clan, so we know what we are doing.

We are going to be looking for players of any skill level, and our only rule is have fun. We will NEVER kick you out of the clan if you don't want to play when we want you to. We are working on a website for the clan, so in the mean time go our forums if you care to join. More info will be on the website site when it's up.

We are beginning to add a bit more structure to the clan by having all of the members join seperate "factions" inside the clan. We are also currently developing a 'campaign' for the clans to do.

For more info about the Clan, the Factions or the Campaign, please visit our forums http://www.hopefulhorizon.890m.com/forum You can also join the clan by posting an application in the Applications section.

Hope to see you in battle soon.

Regards,
Mason and Braden

Sorry about that, the timing has kinda screwed us up, but we can get four people for tomorrow's game. Is that ok with you?
Four players is fine by us. Are we agreed that we play at 2:00PM EST? We will be on IRC and ICO. See you guys then.

As long as whoever is hosting doesn't leave the game (even if they are defeated), it doesn't really matter who hosts.

EDT for summer half of the year...forgot about that. And yes, 2:00pm EDT is what I meant.

Bring as many guys as you like to this battle. We can do a 5v5 if you wish.

Awesome game guys.

Your guys did alright. The most important thing is that they had good attitudes and did HH proud. Plus, when things started to go badly, they didn't quit. They toughed it out until the ending was obvious.

Hehe, I forgot to lock teams, so after a while Eet switched sides and joined HH against us. The 3 remaining GE guys were able to use the sum of their skill to beat down Eet and Blazestorm. The game was decided at that point and Eet just wanted to have some fun.

The real trouble (from my perspective) began for HH when I survived Hlaford's early Kol/Cobalt rush against my Vasari LRM. Having lost so many ships (including his Kol) in that raid, Hlaford wasn't able to expand to his asteroid. I then took his asteroid instead.

Hlaford was then hit by a pirate raid at his homeworld (and only remaining planet). The combined forces of myself, Starslow and Haeso jumped in right behind the pirates and pretty much sealed Hlaford's fate.

On the other side of the map, Eet had defeated his neighbor (Alehkhs?) in a virtual 1v1.

All our forces then focused on BlazeStorm's stronghold position, at which point the game was called 'gg'.

EmperorParadoxnt switched Hlaford and myself: I was the one that got gang-banged three-way and hit with the pirates.

Indeed, the trouble DID begin with the loss of my Kol in an early rush attempt at EmperorParadoxnt's planet. Ah well, that'll teach me to not make split-second changes in my plans without need...

On another note, I had a colony ship safely tucked away at the other end of the system, yet when my planet fell, I still received the "defeat" screen. Shouldn't I still be allowed to play (as I could take over a new plant?)

Hi Alehkhs, sorry about the confusion over who faced off against who.

Here, let me offer some suggestions to increase your abilities.

1. You need to have at least 1 planet at all times or you will be defeated.

2. Secondly, my repair stations are what made the difference in the fight over my homeworld. Your fleet simply couldn't do enough damage to finish off any of my ships. Meanwhile, my ships were decimating your numbers = serious waste of your resources.

In the beginning game, you should avoid attacking enemy fleets that are supported by repair stations (especially if there are more than 1). If you have fleet superiority, try attacking structures or from positions that aren't covered by repair stations. If that fails, try moving to another enemy gravity well and attack structures/ships there.

3. Thirdly, you should have made a run for it with your Kol a lot sooner. Once hull damage starts occuring, it is time to leave.

4. You might want to spend the $ to upgrade your capship at the start, as it makes a big difference in power and survivability.

Hmmm, that is about all that quickly comes to mind.

Hey guys, I would like to join HH if it's all right.
I just got the game today (That explains the first post.)
and am hoping to fight alongside (or against) you guys soon.

HH is an excellent clan whose members have great attitudes. You won't go wrong with these guys.

yea, I tried to make a run with the Kol, and I kept being distracted after issuing a "Run like Hell!" command, only to turn back and find that you had interrupted my jump. :(

I've never tried a rush: I despise them typically, and I was actually testing some complaints I had read the other day about how "Sins is no better than Starcraft; it's still a big rush-fest."

Turns out: rushing doesn't work all that well.

I am so unfamiliar with the Vasari, I didn't even know which structures were which, and with my "user interface" all wonky from my trying to get it back to how I had it Pre-1.03, it wasn't displaying unit names half the time...

*sigh* still a fun game though, I look forward to playing with you guys again (hopefully alongside, not against).

@Alehkhs

Rushes can be efective, if you are spawned close to the enemy. What you do is build about 3 capital ships and go kill the enemy's homeworld. Also, you can use your first cap (if its a kol, or the like) and hunt down and destroy your opponent's cap ship.

@nosammai

Some days I haven't even been able to get on here! To many people at once I'm thinking.

We've made some big organization changes to the clan! If you are a member and are reading this, please check the factions section in the forums!

I'm interested in joining your clan. I've been playing for about two weeks and I consider myself to be an average skill player. I would love to play with organized groups of people to hone my skillz up a notch or two. I am now going to apply in your forum, hope I'll get accepted!
Hello, I'm interested in joining your clan but just wanted to make sure that it would be ok since I would only be able to promise a game once a week and there would be times where my only commitment could be posting on the forums (at least for the next few months). Is this ok?

I love playing this game and would like a group of people to play with who know how to have fun and can help me get better (had the game for a few weeks now).
Sure, go ahead and apply with us. Most of us can only make time for games once a week or so, so we're all in the same boat.

No I'm not. Para is the leader of the GE. I'm just a rabble-rouser

lol nice :) I just joined HH a few days back, been getting tips of players, I am getting better at the game but need to practice like hell but seriously HH is a very newbie friendly clan .

I would like to play a GE player one day just so I can laugh like hell at my demise in game lol Still would be good replays to have for sure.
