What's better for countering fighters?

For countering fighters/bombers, what's better flak frigates or other fighters?

id say other figthers because flaks r just too slow to chase after them most of the time.

Fighters. Flak Frigates if you have your ships keep a tight formation. But fighters are fire and forget, and they're not a huge liability if they chase them across the map into trouble, they're auto-rebuilt.
