Vista: Where does SoaSE go when you install it? Where do you put a new map?

I just downloaded a new map, but can't find the SoaSE files under Vista!? Where do I put the new map file in order to put it in the game?

They should go in your Sins install directory into the Galaxy folder (for maps made using the Galaxy Forge).

The game is installed under C:\Program Files\Stardock by default.

Do you know the file designation for the sins install directory? Can't find it under programs.

If you are using Galaxy Forge you can not save your maps in the Galaxy folder using the Galaxy Forge if you have installed the game under the Program Files folder.

If you do that Vista will move the file to the "Compatibility folder", see WWW Link for a explanation.

Go to the Galaxy folder and click the "Show Compatibility Files" button, highlight the *.galaxy file and select Cut, go back to the Galaxy folder and paste it in. UAC will go off and require two OK before it will allow you to do it.

Of course it would be simpler if you just installed the game in a folder outside of the Program folder tree. Vista is hardwired to do this as long as the folder is under Program Files...

Unless of course you changed the installation path in SD Central before installing sins

I found the manual gives an incorrect directory to the settings area. I eventually found it by random clicking in the general area. Try the following directory.

C:\Users\User_Name\AppData\Local\Ironclad Games\Sins of a Solar Empire

Hope that helps.

Yes the directory is there, and when you press print screen there's a pause in the game so you know it's taking one. But there is no "screenshot" folder anywhere to be found.
