Ironclad Online and Norton Anti-virus

Ok I was having an issue where i would try to login to Ironclad Online and it would hang my system, couldn't alt-tab, ctrl-alt-del, alt-f4, nada, had to reboot. After installing the bonus patch and starting about 6 apps i got it where i could alt-tab and saw that Norton was throwing a window up. I assumed this was the standard "do you wish to allow" message (no idea what I needed to allow but I am guessing it was the script blocker).

I completly disabled Norton 2008 (running on xp pro) and was able to get onto Ironclad Online no problem.

What on earth are you guys running during the login process? There were no problems with login during beta. You need to fix this, at least fix the alt-tabbing issue, asap because I need to see what exactly Norton needs permission to allow. The decision of whether or not to run soase while connected to the net with no AV is a tough one.

i can alt tab with sins fine under xp,
maybe norton has the options of adding the sins of a solar empire exe as a trusted file though? if you know something is going to be from a legit company theres generally no need to be worring about it beeing scanned.

if you have a router like many people do these days and it has a hardware firewall you should be fine turning off your antivirus for some time.

i run kaspesrsky AV and usually i just disable it unless im going to some suspect websites and its very rare i ever get a virus since i got a router a few years back, i think ive had 1 virus in 3 years which was from a website with dodgy adverts that tried to give me a trojan downloader

I can alt tab just fine there is something happening in the login process that Norton is throwing up a permit msg on and hanging the game, ability to alt-tab is just a symptom of this event hanging up sins, the time i was able to alt-tab by starting up a ton of apps all i could see was the taskbar no apps could take foreground except task manager and I couldn't even end process on soase after confirming end process, its a hard lock.

Uh, it's trying to go through the firewall?

Don't run bloated crapware like Norton or play in windowed mode.
