To Frogboy, can you clarify a fog of war issue?

I was just wondering if this is a bug or a "by-design" feature. When alien planets are in the fog of war, you can see the ships they have in orbit. Once they leave orbit they then become invisble until they come out of the fog. I think the only exception would be when you have Eye of Universe and then you can see everything.

Is this a bug that you can see orbiting ships or was it by design? To me it seems like it almost defeats the prupose of even having a fog of war.

Another related question, you can also see when aliens colonize planets in the fog as well. Is this by design? In a way I can understand this one in that if you have contact to them you can see their planet list on the diplomacy screen.

Thanks.

bump again. Wondering why a Frogboy or another DEV hasn't commented on this yet.

Anybody else reading this think this is a good question? I am surpirsed no one else has brought this issue up with the fog of war. :(

It is, and it has been brought up before. I think if you check the both of the major bug and suggestions threads you'll find this mentioned. I haven't seen it acknowledged as "bug" per se... more like a overlooked issue.

Though I realize it isn't, it would be nice if the orbiting ships thing were a function of espionage. At a high level, presumably you'd know what their standing guard was.

Hey that's a neat idea; wonder if it could be easily implemeneted.

Can't see why not, given that we're already getting it for free. :)

LOL Well, yeah, hey, uh... I just got out of a 4 hour Marriage and Intimacy class, man... Give me a break. Got bored in the last hour and wrote up my freaking warplans for the Arceans and Drengins, along with a planned approach to tech that should see me throug the trying times my empire is facing. I can't believe how hard I was thinking about this game and I graduate this term. This game betetr not affect Grad school for me... I got a career planned! I don't think "Emperor of the Known Worlds" pays very well in this reality. :)

"Marriage and Intimacy"

You're going to grad school for something even remotely related to that? Sweet mother I pity you... ;)

"I can't believe how hard I was thinking about this game and I graduate this term."

I don't graduate, but I still have exams coming up. Frogboy, since I'm spending all my time playing your game, I think you should spend 12 hours and write my exams for me. ;)

"I don't think "Emperor of the Known Worlds" pays very well in this reality."

Depends who you conquer.

No, that class is a "cluster" class required for the stoopid BS degree... -sigh- It's what I call a "group grope" class.

Going off to study Speech language pathology with some audiology. Don't ask how I got into that, but I love it. Not exactly related to why I love it, but the ratio of men to women is um... 95%. It's hilarious to be in the science building surrounded by women and all the engineer students get bug eyed wondering what in THE hell does that guy study. A few once in awhile get the nerve to come up to me and ask what my class all about. ;) Sometimes I tell them the truth. :CONGRAT:

oops, meant 5%: that would be *one* guy (me) in the program and 59 women...
