Hmmm, which Stardock program to use

I know, use them all!

Okay, so I'm sure those of us that customize their desktop have come up against this question once or twice. Before we get going, yes, I'm talking just about Stardock program. ;)

So my question centers around ObjectDock (Free or Plus), Right Click and ObjectBar. If you look at them you can say that they do the sames things in different ways, they give you an alternative to the Taskbar, Start Menue and more.

Do you use just one, two of them, or all of them?  :NOTSURE:

I use OB and OD+ but have used RC in the past.
I think OB is the most powerful of the apps.  You can do more with it (including embedding DX widgets).
OD is the easiest to configure and use.  The plus is worlds better than the free.  Multiple docks and tabs change the way you do EVERYTHING.

RC is most convenient if you have your desktop showing . . . I don't.  I have windows full screen a lot of the time.  And RC can loose a config  . . that doesn't usually happen with OB.

Check out my walk-through of OB here.  That might give you an idea of what it can do.

Hey thanks Zubaz, great info, also appreciate the link. ;)

Looks like there are some similar things that you can do with ObjectBar and Right Click. Interesting point you make with using Right Click.

Guess I'm just going to have to us OB and RC more to see which one works for me. :NOTSURE:

I had object dock before I got Object Desktop and I have been using it and loving it for a while..

From what I understood object bar is the same so I haven't installed that yet after getting Object Desktop.

I do have right click installed and I am um tryin to get used to that app..

I like Object Dock cause its really simple and friendly to use :)

thats just me though.. I might get curious enough and start playing with Object Bar :)

I've used OD free for years, and my brother got me OD+ as a Christmas gift. I was missing out! The options in OD+ make it well worth the $20 it would set you back.

However, I'm going to pony up and buy Object Desktop this weekend, because Stardock is the best and I want to support! I'll let you know what I think after that . . . ;)

Appreciate that SanChonino as I'm sure others will.

I have Object Desktop, you won't be disappointed. I also have ObjectDock Plus. ;)

I use all three myself. Some items work best in OB (for example, with PPT presentations it's easier to access the file system menu so I can just show the presentation). To access programs and files I use most often I use OD+ which makes it easer to catagorize my most frequent apps.
My RC shortcuts are for my most used system apps like Display and Control Panel. For other situations it really doesn't matter.

Any one of the three can be configured to do what any other one does so it depends on your preference and how you organize your work. If I only could use one, I think I'd choose OD+ but the withdrawl would not be pleasant.

Zubaz is right about RC, especially losing the config. You can set a hotkey though. I use WinC

I use OD+. That's it. I don't have anything showing on my desktop. Even hide the start menu. The only thing that shows is the 6 little tabs from OD+. I have used both OB and RC, but prefer OD+. RC and OB are great programs though, and will use them again at some point. It's just so damn hard to choose!!!!

I am definitely an OD+ person. It customizes so easily. I only have seven icons on my desktop and that is because I like to use IP to match everything. I have used RC but, did not like it. I have yet to take the plunge into OB yet. I think I need to read Zubaz article.

I use OD+, no icons on my desktop. Do have a few yahoo widgets and the taskbar.  Thats it.

I use RC and OD+.

RC gets used most for the apps I use a lot because it's so convenient ... usually don't have to move the mouse, just right click and then it's a short trip to the shortcut I want ... hmmm ... is that lazy or what

I use OD+ mostly for the tabs which make it easy to group related items. I also use several docklets.

I have used all three but I am pretty exclusive with OD+.  OD+ is all I need :)

I have icons on my desktop only so I can run IconX. ;)

I am definitively a RC-type. It's just the quickest of the three (my own opinion), and I hardly ever run anything full-screen anyway.

It has still some features that are missing ("save"-button)and is in desperate need of some caring love from the developers, but if you want to access your favorite programs as quick as possible, with a program that won't swallow your system-resources (as OD+ can do if you are using a couple of docks at the same time), then RC is the way to go.
