Jagged KNife appearacne at end of planet grabing phase b4 war phase...

Im playing a challenging game with maximum opponents and minor races with abundant everything....

So right at aboutt the time every1 is wraping up the colonizing phase, b4 any1 has troop transports, OR the populations too use them, the largest planets only have 6 billion ppl, for every1, and most only have 1-3 billion.

The jagged knife appears and claim ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY FIVE PLANETS !!!!!!!!

WHA WHA WHAT  :SURPRISED:

Out of my 45-60 ish planets they stole 20 of them, took a clean geographic half my empire, cut it right down the middle.

does having them appear at such a critical early stage b4 you have the population too kick them out do they become a major contender or does the fractal nature of their empire make them too vulnerable too content??

I saved and reloaded the game so I can go back and play around with this, but considering this is my first game that i was winning I wanna win one first, just wondering if any1 has dealt with this b4?

I've had JK appear during the extreme-colony rush. The took maybe 200 planets, 60+ of them mine. The worst part was that the planets they took were the ones built up to launch colonies and constructors, and they had the most population. Took me another 2 years before I could build enough that I could take everything back.

Mostly they are just an annoyance, as they won't build enough fleet (even at masochistic difficulty) to be much of a threat. They will build some ships, even the occasional transport, but they still act like the minor civ that they are.

Jagged Knife is okayish, you can easily bounce back from that. Dread Lords are okay as long as you act quickly. If the Mega Pirates appear, however... Run for the hills.

Nah. Sell all your ships and starbases and rush-buy a couple of transports with lots of engines ;)

You'll be fine. And you might even come out ahead. The AI, for the most part, won't be in a particular rush to reclaim those worlds. And as mentioned above, the JK doesn't put up much of a fight. Yes, it's happened early but consider that a good thing. The JK took half my empire last time and even took my world that had most of my galactic wonders. Losing Eyes of the Universe was tough! But I fought back and it turned out to be one of the greatest games I had ever played :)
