So what is the gameplay like?

I was wondering how battles are, like if you move and attack with fleets in formation or just throw the ships with attack orders, and if the first 10 min always are the same for base building (if there is like just 1 or 2 superior building paths for the first 10 min), or is there several good balanced paths to choose from? Is there enough tactics involved in battles, or are the more or less automatic?

I was also wondering if the mood (music/style) in the game resembles Homeworld or something similar in style? :)

And what is your impression personally for the Beta, will the finished product be a grail for an RTS fan as myself? ;p

I have also read that some think that the gameplay is too slow, boring and always plays the same. Is this true or does this just represent someone who has just played the smallest levels or somehting similar? (:(

Beta 2 was as fun as most released games, not to mention far, far more stable.

We're now on Beta 4, and one month from release, and there is plenty of fun to be had.

Well, singleplayer does get a little repetitive -- Beta 4 doesn't really have an AI worth mentioning, as they didn't have time to get the AI out the door, and the Vasari, and all the other fixes they've made. So, since this was a multiplayer beta anyways... no AI :D

As far as playing slow, its only slow if you play it on slow. You can play on normal / fast speed to -- normal most people like fast, well, only speed freaks care for that these days :D

oh please ron, everyone thinks "normal" and even "fast" are still too slow, nobody at all (well... apparently save you) thinks "fast, well, only speed freaks care for that these days "

Um, Schod, most people agree "normal" is just about right :P

for all of my forum wandering and spamming, you ron are the only one who has agreed with you.

I don't, I think theres something wrong.

Everyone? Hmmm, I don't, so that must mean not everyone...

everyone of course being an exaguration truly meaning "all active beta members and forumites of which I've been aware" of which you are not one. considering how many I'm aware of, thats a significant statement.

shoddy, you arent even aware of the vids ive been making of you in the shower :P

Schod, given that most people here agree normal is just about right, most of the time, I'd say you don't have a leg to stand on.

Ghost forums that don't really exist don't count, ya see :D

Personally I think "normal" is a tad to fast.

Esentially it is awe inspiring! Even on an old machine. While it is lacking in certain areas *cough*AI*cough* the devs have assured us that everything has been fixed. If you don't believe me go and buy the tokens and play. It is HW only better.

like *who*? the one person who probably doesnt have the game? even sparts disagrees.

You also have to consider that the majority of the newer players will be RTS players. THis game has to cater to them.

And from what I hear, from many old RTSers this game is a tad to slow to ever be a big multiplayer hit, or even be competitive online.

Bingo.

come on, Supcom no mavor on worlddom with no resource increase and no speed increase is 4-5 x faster than any game I've played on sins.

Multi for one. Feel free to dig up the last thread on this subject if you want to talk to the others.

Yes, but you are forgetting that we are old timers, we are used to the fact that games take longer. But if you view it from the prespective of a new player, all that the long game time will do is frustrate them and drive them away from multiplayer.

well fine then, perhaps I simply think too quickly for my own good.

true, most of them go towards analyzing the data I've collected and planning superior strategies. although, I must admit, I usually spend a lot of mental real-estate counting.

I'm going to spare the insults, but...
they are known as a bunch of things, including "fissures" preceded by a bunch of different prefixes which connotate location or function.
