When you put your mouse over the taskbar, does it switch to an hourglass and just stay that way? Can you click Start at all? I ask because I had a similar problem awhile back...couldn't get it to do anything when this would happen. Always had to use Taskmanager to restart. I ended up having to re-install...EVERYTHING. SUCK! Anyway, first I'd recommend getting iolo's System Mechanic...that program ROCKS! Has ton's of great tools and I've not had any problems with my system since installing it. I run some basic tasks on schedule then run more detailed ones at least once a month. I really recommend this proggy.

Guys, I think I found out , why, I am getting all these errors messages when I try to "restart" or "shutdown" ....the laptop......

I did not have this problem, 2 days ago ...and I was thinking; what did I install that could have messed things up ..
The two things I downloaded, were: "DesktopX Widget: and "Window FX" ...
and I put these two on "start up"....
I went to "msconfig" and took these two programs of from the start up.. and
tried "restart" and "shutdown" ...and guess what, I did not get the error messages  :CONGRAT:

So, with this can someone tell me, what wrong with my laptop or the programs ...
I am going to try putting one of the programs on start up and try "restarting" and "shut down" the laptop... and see what happens.. will post the result soon ....
thanks for all the people who helped me....
