Alliances?!

I can't figure out why an Alliance isn't possible with the Altarians. We both have Alliance tech, and my relationship is deemed Friendly. Does the fact that they are Saintly while I'm only Neutral have anything to do with it?

You need to have the status close to get the alliance option. Altho there might be other stuff as weel, how's your good/evil alignment compaired to theirs? Are you allied with their enemies?

I think you just need a Close relationship. I had an alliance at one time with both the Drengin and the Altarians while playing with a perfect neutral (50) rating.

ohhh... i had thought "friendly" was the highest i could get... i even gave the buggers a whole planet to bribe em!!

one more thing on this. if i'm allied with a race, and if my culture supremecy far outweighs them, is there still the possibility of gaining the planet from them? i really don't want this to happen, as i rely on this planet for trade, but i'm a real powerhouse in the Culture department.

Hmmm... I'm in a close relationship with the Torians but my only option under Treaties is Attack. What gives? I really would like them as an ally. They give me all kinds of stuff to fight the naughty Dregins.

Grrr!! I HATE it when I answer my own question! :notsure: Alliances are an ability! Hmmm, they are a powerful tool for both good and bad. Interesting...

you may need to throw in some gravy even if you're "close". a few techs'll do it.
