Simple enough question for gamers out there -- which console system would you buy (if you were thinking of getting one this holiday season) and why that one versus others?

Wii. I had said I'd not get another console and just play PC, but a friend at work got a Wii and that thing is cool. The fact that it is a much more reasonable cost compared to the others is another big factor.

As long as the others keep reducing the enjoyment of the single player experience for their online multiplyer mess, then I'll keep spending my money on my more (eventually)powerful PC.

X360- for Virtua Fighter 5.

Only reason I own a console.

I have a wii and 360 but asuming i didn't, i would definitely buy a wii. Unlike the other current consoles the wii offers something that my pc can't fun, casual, motion controled games (a mouse doesn't count as motion control)  . And i'm not saying thats all the the wii has, it also has hardcore games such as Metroid Prime 3, No More Heros, and Twilight Princes.

I'd buy none :p.

PC's have so much more to offer in the long run.

PLAYSTATION 3 - BLU-RAY AND BETTER GRAPHICS

WII - HAS NO GAMES FOR HARD CORE PLAYERS AND ITS AIMED FOR CHILDREN

360 - HAVE TO PAY TO PLAY ONLINE AND NO HD PLAY CAPABILITY

Which would i buy? All three.

I have a PS3 w/40GB HDD, a Xbox 360 and i just recently go the Wii. Each machine has it's advantages and drawbacks.

The Wii is the fun machine...silly games that take no brain power to play. Just turn it on have fun turn it off.

The PS3 is the gamers machine...the ultra long and complex games really do look the best and perform the best on the PS3, no doubt.

The 360 is somewhere in between. It does a good job at being the hardcore gamers machine but just cant match the PS3, but it does have some fun to it as well. I'd say its the online machine, yea you gotta pay for Xbox live, but the community presence is there, and it is far better supported by MS and the third party devs.

On top of that i have a Quad core and a Dual core to round out the gaming experiance.

I dont really think any one is better than the other...they each have their niche and play to that area well. :)

I own a Playstation 3 and a Xbox 360.

By far i prefer the PS3 because I prefer its exclusive titles such as Uncharted, Gran turismo 5, Metal gear solid 4, Wipeout, Ratchet or Motorstorm...and what's upcoming is a musy-have for me : God of war, next Ico's, Tekken, Final fantasy 13 versus...

anyways a lot of games are multiplatform, but I still prefer buying these on PS3, because when it's online, I don't want to pay to play online.

Xbox 360 is still good for games such as Mass effect (the DRMs being terrible on PC) or Dead rising.

I'm never buying a Wii however, I think it's too expensive for what it is, I hate the fact they dont put any efforts into graphics, and I feel that anyways, the gameplay is too simplified by the wiimote...it's hard to get any depth playing this way.

PC still wins them all though :)

The wii makes a really good second system behind a PC.  The PC can handle games the consoles won't touch, the hard-thinking strategic stuff like GalCiv, Total War, Supreme Commander ; the best RPGs out there with modability (Oblivion is, and I beleive that Fallout 3 also will be, made so much better with mods.)  Very deep thinky-games, time eaters.

The wii balances this with games that you can waste 30 minutes on and have fun, or that when your friends are over everyone can hop into and have a lot of fun, even the non-gamers.  I can easily see how solo gamers who don't hang out with a lot of people, or hardcore gamers, may not want a wii, but for my buck it's a great machine if you're more interested in fun than being "hardcore."
